Today was not as exciting but I managed to pull it together. It was a bit breezy so i took to the hills hoping to hide from the cold a bit.
After 2 dry stands and one stupid miss at 200 meters then again at 300 I pulled up to my last stand.
I remember once hearing from redfrog that coyotes often won't run from a truck parked at a wellsite as they are used to seeing trucks there all the time.
Deciding to test out this advice I parked right next to the well shack.
Being cold and tired I only walked to the berm of the wellsite and set to howling away.
After a series of howling then distress I was finally rewarded by a lone coyote coming to my pup distress.
It was coming in on a string then all of a sudden stopped to peer into the trees. It took a lot of coaxing but finally I got him unglued from his watching.
This was the moment of Truth. On the next rise he would see my truck but lo and behold he crested the rise and took a good look around then when he took a glance left I sat up thumped him with the 222.
In the picture if you look close you can see the top of my truck beside the wellshack and the berm I sat on was the little rise to the right.
