Colorado Wildlife Commission to ban Varmint hunting

NASA, Claimbuster. Would be great to meet you guys, look forward to the meeting.

PM me and we can start getting this together.

There has to be more concerned hunters over there on the western slope.

We need BODIES at that meeting! Huggers don't buy hunting licenses, prairie dog shooters DO!!!!!

I can't get off work either, but i'll do anything else that's needed.

Man, if somebody came out with a form letter for a petition (whatever it takes) we could all print it out and get a bunch of signatures. These letters could be placed in every gun shop in CO.

And which one of these dipchits forks over the same amount of money to the DOW each year that you and I do to accomplish such a task?

The Forest Gaurdians is the group that has brought forth this petition and they don't want ANY more prairie dogs shot or killed, period! SO in thier point of view, no one will have to pay anything to accomplish the "task", because there will be no "task".

I was referring to the cost of "humanely relocating them".

I emailed all of this out to all of the hunters in my address book. A couple are attorneys, one a taxidermist with family at the DOW. Hopefully someone will have an idea how to get this rolling en masse...........

I took that week off for vacation, so I can now go. Let me know who from Denver area is going, I can drive or ride with someone. Let me know what else I can do to help!

hi guys, i have been keeping up with this sorta behind the scenes as i am a personal friend of one of the commisioners.we hunt and fish together and have also hunted PD's together. I know where his vote is but he says this is a serious matter and he does not know where the votes of the other commisioners will go. His suggestion was exactly what you have been plotting....to fill the meeting room with supporters, but have one articulate spokesman that will speak for the group with as many facts and figures as possible.I plan on being there myself, with as many friends as i can bring. whoever said it above was right, this is the nose under the tent.....and NOT just for PD's......their ultimate agenda is to ban ALL hunting...we have to stand together, or fall one at a time...lets try to organize a united defense here regardless of our separate views.....email me ajones1954 at fairpoint dot net with any info and numbers you have . and dont anyone think that this is the end if we win.....they are planning to take it to a vote with a ballot initiative if this fails...... AJ

I wish I was articulate enough to be a spokesman, but I freeze up when addressing a group. That's why I put all my efforts into organizing.

Jim West and I will be driving over from the Denver area. PM me your email addy and I will try to be a "Point of Contact" for everyone that cares enough about our sport to get involved. I would love to see a caravan of 50 hunters heading west on the I-70 to attend this very important Commission meeting.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Administration here at Predator Masters for their involvement and undying support with this issue that ultimately affects ALL members of PM! Thank you for your help in rallying the troops, adding your credentials supporting this cause, and lending a hand to defeat this errosion of our hunting herritage! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

7 pages and not one post by Admin or a Moderator......huh?

Maybe this just isnt important enough.......

I will be posting signes at sporting goods dealers around town, as soon as I get some made up, I want them to look professional (sp?) Any ideas for these would be good. After talking with NASA this morning, I can help with ideas for places to stay, eat etc. Also thinking about an after the meeting....meeting on thursday night to orginize for friday BBQ.. I really like my new grill/smoker! Lastnights tri-tip was to die for!

Lets get it going!

I have made an attempt to get through to the Colorado Cattlemen's Association through a friend. Can't make any promises, but hope it helps.

I just fired off an email to the Hunter's Rights division of the NRA. If they respond with anything of value I will share. (If they respond at all)

Everybody, please send me your email in a PM. That way we'll have a mailing list and can do this as a team. I'm doing my best to pull all this together. We only have 28 days before we present our opposition to the Commission. We need to have our Citizen Hunter's Petition drafted and distributed for signatures by this weekend. That would give us 3 weeks to collect signatures.

I need everybody's input and comments. If we all work together we can do this!

Wow, I heard back from the NRA already. Doesn't look real promising but heck, they responded.

This is what they said.

Chad-- thanks for your message. We are aware of this issue, but I will forward your note to NRA-ILA in the hope they can get someone to this meeting or take some other action.

Thank you for letting us know about it.

Tonight, I will email a summary of what we have learned/accomplished so far, to everyone that has given me their email addy. Things are coming together. There are major organizations that seem to be willing to lend their support to help us defeat this proposal. The NRA (above) is another one. We have to keep the dialog flowing and keep the momentum and enthusiasm at high levels. Keep talking to people, use your contacts, use your friends contacts! We need to get everyone we can to come to Grand Junction on May 1 & 2.

We even have a BBQ dinner donated for everyone who shows up at the hearing on Thursday morning. Hell, I'll buy the beer!! Details will be in the email I send out tonight. PM me and get on the mailing list.

By the way! How many non-resident Pdog shooters come here to Colorado to recreate on our "varmints"? There are about a dozen right here on Predator Masters, right? Old Turtle, you want to keep coming to Lamar for your summer fun, don't you? Then get on board with us to defeat this insanity. Every voice counts!

Does anyone know how soon an agenda will be published for the meeting? It sure would be helpful if we knew ahead of time when were up.

Nasa, You have a PM and a letter to use as you see fit...

Don't worry about speaking in front of a group...I've put on speaking engagements for hundreds and the only two things that you have to be ready for is:

Know your material so you are confident to answer any questions that come up, and

Pick out someone on the group that you are speaking to (Board, Panel, etc.) and speak directly to them, just as if you had them across the table for coffee...(or a beer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif) and shut out, mentally, everyone else in the room.

Just remember, except for the tree-huggers in the back of the room, we're all friends and want your information... of course, if you have a hundred supporters at your back, it helps..

Casual street clothes... No Camo and it will go fine... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Turtle, your comments are absolutely on target. Including the choice of attire.

Assuming I can get out of a potential hiccup with work, I would be happy to be the spokesperson. Do it all the time. That assumes nobody else is dying to do it.

Besides, just based on looks, charm and overall charisma, I would be the hands down favorite anyway! Just kidding, I'm not that good looking.

Agendas are posted on the Wildlife Commission's page at least 7 days prior to each meeting.

I wish I could go along Nasa but I'll be too busy trying to keep my Prairie Dogs from digging up my hay fields /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

I know some guys from here that have contacts in GJ and will let them know what is planned. Maybe they can join up with you.

Anything I can do to help, just let me know.
