My philosophy is carry as big as you can comfortably. So I
like options!
The little Ruger LCP is a honey. It is more accurate than
it should be, and mine has been extremely reliable. I carry
it in my shorts pocket, for those t-shirt, shorts, and sandal
days. The lower left is an example of the XD Subcompact.
This one is chambered in 40 S&W, quite accurate, reliable,
and fairly easy to hide. The top center is a Glock 27, which
is their subcompact in 40 S&W. This is the one I carry most
often in a Comp-Tac Infidel IWB holster. I love this pistol,
and on the range it shows. The big XD-45c center left is my
stove gun. On cold winter nights when I take the Chesapeake
for a walk, and fire up the outside wood stove, it is in my
back pocket. This is one of those pistols that doesn't need
night sights. It just hits where I point. The rest can be
CC guns, with enough clothing, but for the most part they
just bring huge smiles to my face on the range.
Anyway, this picture gives a good comparison of sizes of pocket
380s, subcompact double stack pistols, compact double stack
pistols, and full size pistols in both single and double stack.
