Now that's funny right there.
I speak very proper for a Hillbilly from North Alabamer. I reckon I do anyway since if I'm in a different part of the country people will turn around and listen to me talk. They don't care what the subject is, they just want to hear the talking.
How many of you have ever been driving on 4 lane highway and turned around in the MEDIUM? Apparently lots of folks around here do that on their way to THE Walmarts (still singular) As in, "I'm goin to THE Walmarts, yonna go?
Someone mentioned Coke. All we drink in AL is Tea, Water, or Coke. Coke comes in many flavors like Mt Dew, Dr Pepper, Sprite, etc... We don't drink Pop that's what we do to corn. Tea comes sweet, not sweetened, if you don't want it sweet you better specify that when you order.
And as someone else pointed out, in most places east of the Mississippi we kill Ki-O-Tee's. When I am KiOtee hunting with a buddy, and I see one, I tell him there is a KiOtee over yunder. Yunder is a valid word in AL, I suspect it means the same thing as yonder, but it sounds better. When we are fishing for Crappie, depending on which area of our state we are fishing in at the time, the locals fishing for the same species will be fishing for Crappie, CRAP-e, or White Perch.
We unthaw stuff in AL too, like one of you mentioned. I actually had to think about that one for a second.
We really do talk like Jeff Foxworthy portrays us southern Rednecks to.
My one and only pet peeve about reading posts is when someone uses the word to, when they should have used te word too. Too means also. Not sure why that bothers me.
