bohunr... It may have been the last fox I killed a few years back... 100 yard shot on crusted snow that easily held the fox on top. Head on with a 204 Ruger tossing out 40 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. At the shot the red fox disappeared into a thicket instead of dropping on the spot. There was an incredibly easy track job from where I hit it to where i found it. It went about 20 yards away with NOTHING left within it's chest cavity! No heart or lungs within the chest cavity, and a softball size hole between it's shoulders. I could not comprehend how that little guy even took a step, let alone make it the short distance it did. Absolutely mind blowing!i hit a fox one time with 7mm-08 right in the chest while it was facing me. when i walked up to it looked great. then i realized the exit went straight out its butt, everything inside was gone out the back.
yes they arecritters are tough.
Guess not! Welcome to PM!Never had to shoot them more than once, never had one keep running either.
First coyote I killed was a broadside shot, jogging about 10 mph or so and I shot her right through the spine just above the vitals in the picture. DRT.
