Coyote hunting

Even when you have enough gun for the job at hand "shot placement" is the lights out!
Some fellows use .204 -some .243- some .22-250, and some .223. Where you make the hit ends the ball game or goes into extra innings!!

i hit a fox one time with 7mm-08 right in the chest while it was facing me. when i walked up to it looked great. then i realized the exit went straight out its butt, everything inside was gone out the back.
bohunr... It may have been the last fox I killed a few years back... 100 yard shot on crusted snow that easily held the fox on top. Head on with a 204 Ruger tossing out 40 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. At the shot the red fox disappeared into a thicket instead of dropping on the spot. There was an incredibly easy track job from where I hit it to where i found it. It went about 20 yards away with NOTHING left within it's chest cavity! No heart or lungs within the chest cavity, and a softball size hole between it's shoulders. I could not comprehend how that little guy even took a step, let alone make it the short distance it did. Absolutely mind blowing!

Most of the coyotes I shoot are with my BFR in 45/70. Never had to shoot them more than once, never had one keep running either.
