I know Steve Craig to be correct in that the best time to take out the excess is the late febuary to mid march period. At that time we still have the leaves off the trees. Some areas still have a good snow cover for airial gunning. And by that time dispersal is over for the most part. When I take out a trouble making pair it's over for a year or two for that landowner.There will be no pups born in that territory that year.

The upshot of it, there are populations here that go from two coyotes per mile to one every two miles.Depending on human population in that area and habitat. And the sad truth is that predator numbers are not really important enough to keep up with when whitetail tags are what's important.Jimmie
