Custom gun porn!!!

That yellow/green stock was hard to get a really good picture of. I bet I took no less that 50 pictures of it, and only a handful turned out half way decent. I had trouble getting good focus with the pictures, and lighting was very critical.

What a group of eye-candy rifles!

Is that an ambidextrous stock on the Encore 308 White Express?
If so, who makes it? BEAUTIFUL laminate!

That is a Choate Ultimate Sniper stock. I have a lot of guys go with this stock, just so they start shooting, while saving up their money for a better stock. I know of several guys who are still using this same stock 10 years later. It's big, bulky and ugly, but it sure works good! It even has a heavy duty aluminum chassis, so it requires no bedding. I actually keep a couple of these stocks around for accuracy testing, and since it is already set up for heavy barrels, it works perfectly for everything from light sporters to heavy varmint weight barrels. And since they sell for $200 from Midway, you're not really out a lot of money for a good testing platform.

It is ambidextrous, and that is one rig I really liked, because I am left handed...

Tony Gettel made the stock sets for all of the T/C Encores.

I never cared much for the sniper version because of the slanted fore-end but the varmint has the straight flat fore-end and I liked it better. Heavy and ugly is pretty much right on but they work and work pretty good. And a few colors of Krylon helps to cover up the ugly......kinda. But I will say, they don't move around much on the bench and they aren't expensive either. I had one on a Savage 308 and with the weight of the stock and a muzzle break the rifle barely moved when fired.

Going for "looks" the Varmint Version definitely looks better for sure! When I ordered my stocks several years ago, I paid $99 each and got free shipping, which is my only reason for going with the UGLIER sniper stock.

Agree they are not much to look at, but I've been looking for something resembling the feel of an AR stock but which does not have a "pistol grip" ever since the landowner banned AR's (or anything with similar appearance) on the ranches I hunt. I like the straight grip of the AR and think this configuration might pass inspection. Will check to see if available for Savage 10. Thanks!

I usually shot mine off a Wichita rest and the varmint model rode the bags better for me. I'm pretty sure they make one for the Model 10, IIRC thats what mine was. You might check out the Grayboe stocks too. I have a Renegade that I like and they are priced right too.

I have looked at the Grayboe stocks before, and never saw one that I really liked. I'm really partial to McMillan stocks, and like their McHale and Toole MBR stocks the best.

Bill, looks like Graboe only makes stocks for 700 Rem. So far as I can determine, the Choate is not available for the SA bottom bolt release on my Mod 10 Scout.

Fine looking rifles David. Always enjoy your gun pictures and write ups. Your smithing work is also superb, the Cva scout you rechambered for me in 357max is shooting awesome btw.
