Jim, what are you going to use the rifle for?
I had two Sako Vixens. My load was hot, but a standard load for many, 24.0g of IMR 4320 with a 25g bullet. I had to de copper every 25 shots, and the velocity was 4150.
Many Remington 700's, and shot a hot load of Win 760 with the 25's, at 4100. De copper'd every 60-70 shots or when bullets started hitting the ground 25' in front of me.
Custom barrels such as Lilja, Shilen, Pac Nor would go longer, but around 125 rounds, the powder fouling starts destroying bullets.
We found that if we shot a load of 322, 2015 around 3850, that our shot strings would go much further because the powder charges ran 21.5-22.5g of powder.
Jim, buy good bronze bristle brushes by the dozen, and each brush is good for 100 strokes max, throw it away. Great copper solvent is a must.
Bullets that use a J4 jacket(custom) foul less than HOrnady bullets...take that to the bank.
I wish I could talk you into getting a Lilja barrel chambered with a zero freebore reamer because 17's do NOT like a lot of bullet jump for best accuracy...I have shot the barrels out of numerous 17's on the p. dog and squirrel fields.
17's are very, very unforgiving of copper and powder fouling, you have to be on your A game with a good cleaning regiment.
Good luck
