I recently purchased a CZ 550 Varmint Laminated rifle in the .22-250 caliber. However, every time I wipe the exterior of the barrel with light oil (BALLISTOL SPORTSMAN'S OIL), a reddish-orange color shows up on the cloth. I am a bit concerned about the finish on this NIB rifle. Could the finish be wearing off? I have also tried Rem-Oil with the same result. Additionally, I have contacted CZ (there reply was that my situation sounded normal since the blue finish is really just a controlled rusting process). I really don’t agree with CZ’s answer, because I don’t have this problem with my other CZ rifles.
