Dicks sporting goods?

Hey guys they are building one about 10 min. from me, how do they compare to a Gander MT? There are 2 stores about 30-35min. from me that use to be Galyans but, to be completely honest they are kinda dissapointing. So how do they stack up??? Thanks
 
Well I have shopped at a Dick's that is near me and all I can tell you is that they named the place right. I mean if you want to buy a baseball bat or some joggin shorts try Dick's but Gander mtn is my choice.
 
That really sucks the 2 GM's I have close hardly have any easy stuff in stock sometimes. Like if all you want for .223 is FMJ's than they have em'. I go there often enough everytime hoping they have got some new stock in but????????? Alright fellas thanks for the reply's though

I dont think gander mountain is that great, and dicks is horrible. Although i am a little biased as I am 5 minutes from bass pro and 25 from cabelas. As far as ammo choices go, The few times i have been in gander mountain there wasnt anything, had like 20 boxes total of 270 and 30-06 ammo. However, the gun choices are pretty good, and easier to get to than anywhere else.
 
Oh great! They almost have the construction of Dicks complete, near my home. I was hopefull it would be a good selection.

Looks like it's not the place for me.

Well here in michigan dicks is different..... NOT, it sucks. Gander is about 10-15 min away from me.I have a bass pro 25 min from me and Cabelas about 1 hour from me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. So i might be a little spoiled when it comes to stores. and if you cant find it in any of those stores your SOL.

I'm with everybody else. However, the two GMs I have shopped were great. I don't live too far from Rowney, apparently. Gander's customer service is second to none in Corsicanna. BPS customer service bites, and Cabela's requires you to use their credit card to earn points toward discounts. I was suprised last Sunday when I walked in to Cabela's and found out with LE or FF I.D. you got their employee discount.

Anything I can't get at the local stores, then I travel 90 miles to the nearest G. Mountain [Wichita], /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
or Cabela's @ 180ish miles [K.C.] /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif; 230 miles [Kearney, NE]. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Or if I don't need it right away, I order from one of several catalogs: Cabela's, Lock, Stock & Barrel, Mid-South Shooters, Natchez, ect. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
 
1S1K, Yeah your right, the cusotmer service is great at GM. The only one I have been to is in Jersey Village outside of Houston, and they dont carry hardly any ammo, I mean wal mart has at least 3 types of 270 rounds, they only had a couple! Other than that, good store.
 
I am one of the lucky ones too, Bass Pro Shops 20 min away, Cabelas 35 min away and Sportsmans Warehouse 10 min away. Not to mention all the Academy's in the city. San Antonio is the hunters/fishermans retail dream town.
 
The nearest Cabela's is about 2 hrs away, but Bass Pro and Sportsmans Warehouse are less than 30 min. away. They are worlds apart from Dicks, Gander MT, Garts, and the like.

Mike E is right other than fishing gear I go to Dicks in Morgantown. Other than that it's mail order and twice a year trip to Cabelas in Wheeling, Wv. We had a great little store called Woodlands World 25 mins away. The owner of 84 Lumber built his own version of Cabelas. Used to be nice until he moved it out of the big building to a little one a 1/4 of the size so he could put slots in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Opps it's a Duhnam in Motown not Dicks. Pretty much the same thing.
