I owned a German Shorthair female about 15 years ago who killed two coyotes, on separate occasions, while pheasant hunting. Each kill happened in under a minute. In each instance, she immediately got the coyote by the throat and began to shake violently. Now, this was no ordinary shorthair..........she was an extreme alpha in nature, hated other dogs, and was not fond of people. She was not vicious towards people in any way, just wanted nothing to do with them. She wouldn't ever take food or a treat from my hand, from the time she was a pup. All she wanted to do was hunt......and she was the best bird dog I ever owned. Sadly, I had to get rid of her when I got another shorthair, because she beat the snot out of her on a regular basis. However, (call BS if you like) I watched her make short work of those two Midwestern coyotes.
