As I mentioned previously, I own two rifles with Shaw barrels that I had specifically built for rough vehicle use in South Texas. The two barrels were readily available to the smith, and since the builds were "budget/utilitarian tool" jobs, I told the smith to use them. They are both acceptable in terms of accuracy, but both barrels copper foul very easily.
I too would not use neither of the two barrels discussed here for a quality rifle build, but if I had to for some reason, and I had a choice, it would be a Douglas long before a Shaw. For a good build, I'd spend a few dollars more and get a lot more value in some other quality made and polished barrel.
Just my opinion.
