Ok guys i know nothing about ar guns , so my question is will the dpms panther sportical be a good coyote gun , it seems t be light weight and will i be able to upgrade its parts later on. come on guys i need some help before i jump in this ar world
thanks

It's an EXCELLENT calling rifle!

I have a DPMS AR-15 that's pretty much the Sportical profile that was my main predator calling rifle for two years. I'm telling you, that rifle has killed some predators.
Like you said, it's light & easy to carry & handles great on the stand....

About all I did was free float the barrel. Barbara's DPMS is still factory spec, and she still kills coyotes out to 300 yards with it. (You can actually watch her DO that with that rifle on an upcoming episode of MOJO Outdoors TV.)

Here's my DPMS....

Can't go wrong with one of those!

My buddy just got one and is handles pretty nice and shoots just as nice. He took a coyote at 250 on Sunday with it. So it does the job. Rockinbbar always give some great advice and will tell you how it is if its not right.

Seriously! Thats a good price. DPMS makes some fine AR's.

They are great. And that is a great price I would jump all over that one. The only thing is that the sportical does not have a forward assist. I never use the forward assist anyways but I have noticed that alot of members here do. I would not worry about it and buy with confidence.

That seems like a fantastic price, as far as the forward assist, the only time I ever used it, I had to stand on the charging handle to get the cartridge out (no joke). Better of without it any way.

I just bought one last weekend at the local show for $650 plus tax and thought that was a good price so that $620 sounds really good to me.
I really like mine so far.

I don't see how a gun shop can manage to stay in business when it sells that Sportical for $620 or even $650 when dealer price, before shipping, is already $600.

$650 is one heck of a good deal.

I'm sure it is like all the other firearms. $600 quanity 1, $550 Quanity 10, $500 quanity 100, and $400 quanity 1000.

I heard one manufacture will not even ship orders to anyone that orders less than $10,000 at a time. None of the dealers around here would order this gun for me because they didn't want to order $10k worth of stuff for my $1200 gun.

Thats about the same price as the bargain bin riffles care to share were you picked them up that cheap. my income tax should be back very very soon

I was an FFL dealer up until July last year.
I can tell you this for a fact.

One gun at $600, twenty guns order will get a $10 discount per gun. I had never ordered more than twenty guns during the 25 years I was an FFL holder. But once or twice I did querry distributors about volume discount for 50 and 100 gun order. Well, the discount did not amount to any more than 10%.

Whatever price you see on guns at Walmart, that is about what distributors charge FFL dealers and small gun shops. I figure Walmart and its power buy could not have got it for any less than 25% of the price tag you see at their sporting goods counter. Of course Walmart does not purchase through distributors. Walmart buys directly from manufacturers.

Rowdy I was taught in Armorers School to set the rifle on a sturdy bench and tap it up and down while pulling on the charge handle. Correct me if I'm wrong but you standing on the handle put you in front of the muzzle. I for one don't want to answer a call for prayers for something like this...
