DPMS Prairie Panther

Very nice looking rifle. I like DPMS alot but they tend to put too long and too heavy a barrel on their rifles. A 18" un "heavy" 1/9 barrel would have been perfect imo. However it is a great looking rifle and the type of AR that I like. TnTnTn

Our whole idea with the Prairie Panther was that we wanted the lightest most accurate rifle we could make for calling and stalking ect..

We used a lightened version of our stainless DCM match barrel and the 20" with the 1x8 twist made the most sense for the intended purpose.

The difference in handling between the 18" and 20" is almost non existent, also the extra velocity with 2” more barrel helps with the heavier bullets. In fact most people we showed the rifle to thought it had a 18" barrel!

Here is the Kings Desert Shadow verison in action!

Here's another shot

Uh oh... only a day after listing my R15 for sale and now I'm already eyeballing my next AR... haha! I'm a sucker for the MO Brush one!!!

I was looking at the DPMS lineup and was wondering where the barrel comes out why it looks like it isn't finished and that turned me off. The one you show here is a very nice rifle. I'm sure if I shot one I'd love it. I just never got past the looks of the barrel and that hole around it.

I LIKE that King's camo on the rifle!

It's SHARP!

The PP looks like one coyote killing machine!
I'll have to put my hands on one in the field next...just wait.

I like that cut-out stock design on there too....It looks good on the .308 & .243 rifles as well.

Keep letting us know what's going on!

That's where you get a free-floated barrel. Take the junk off the barrel and give it some space and you end up with the best accuracy possible. Granted it might not look "traditional" to you, but guys that know what it means are totally impressed.
Awesome gun, and i have a funny feeling one will adorn my safe with the others...

I just bought a RRA that has a floated barrel without that look...must be just me...I been looking at a DPMS and hoping to find one something like my RRA. I got a DPMS an old catalog volume 45. Not trying to highjack your thread but I was looking at a Panther Pardus and was wondering if it is still made or I guess I can just call them...don't like short barrels...lol.

I like the camo. I find that the selection of the 2.5-10x56 Trijicon Accupoint was a good choice. You blew it when you failed to mount using La Rue quick detachable mount. I prefer a collapasable stock especially in winter so I can adjust length due to heavy coats. I also much prefer an 18 in barrel with a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist with a Smith Vortex on the end of it and I like quadrails with a surefure light or laser designator and a folding front grip if you want the big bucks for an AR set it up right. I do think there are a lot of preditor hunters who really want the 204 ruger and I hear a lot of talk about 17cal rifles on some coyote sites and one chambered in a 17 Fireball which would really be something that is not available elsewhere. Most hunters dont really reazlize it but having the Smith Vortex will help to save your night vision by reducing muzzle flash this is a very important issue when you are using an illuminated optic and hunting at night. I prefer that a barrel be stainless but would really like to see one that had the camo coating over the stainless to tone it down or at least a similar color tone. You used black teflon but Walter Birdsong has a tan color t finish which would be a far better color match.
How about adding a single point sling attachment point so people dont have to take recoil spring buffer tube off to add one.

A lot of that is personal preference. The Trijicon scope that is shown in the first picture, does not come with the rifle. It is just a scope we had mounted for the picture. You can mount any type of optic of your choice, and use any type of mount on the A3 flattop receiver.

If you prefer to use a single point sling, removing the buffer tube isn't necessary to mount the adapter. You would just have to remove the top screw on the buttplate, pull the stock off, and replace the latch plate with the adapter.

DPMS, I noticed in your original post that you are now offering the rifle with a DPMS 2 stage trigger...Is that significantly better than the RRA 2 stage that you used to offer as an upgrade??

I have one of your older 16" bulls that I would have a hard time giving up, just due to the dependability and accuracy..

I used it at the '05 DPMS tri-gun and did pretty well for an old fart...
