DPMS vs Rock River

I'm gonna buy an AR while I still can. It will be used for mainly coyotes and praire dogs. Would like some opinions on the DMPS vs Rock River Arms. Right now I'm leaning towards RR.

Keep right on leaning toward the Rock River if your willing to pay a little more. Both are sound AR-15s for the most part.

An AR configured for calling coyotes will likely be a little light for a serious p-dog popper. If your not walking around, a heavy barrel will work for coyotes, providing your limited to one upper. Most of the coyotes I shoot are targets of opportunity and not called in. I also shoot plenty of jackrabbits. The Red-Dot is for close in shots and on runners. My RRA Varmint 24in is mostly a p-dog shooter.

i have had both and i cant tell the diff in them.both are very good.the rra had 20" barrel and the dpms has the 16".i like the 16" barrel buy far.you want go wrong either way.

I have the DPMS 20" bull barrel, and I love it. My brother has a DPMS and a Rock River. I love my ar. Both are very accurate and i wouldn't trade my DPMS for anything. The rock river is a little more then the DPMS but for the money I would go with the DPMS.

I like my DPMS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif I looked at the RR it was a little more $$$ I didn't think there was much difference. Mine shoots great DPMS Bull Sweet Sixteen.

I have the RRA A4 Varmint 24" and wouldn't trade it for the world. That being said, I think all the major manufacturers are quality weapons, whether it be RRA, DPMS, Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster, Remington, they all are quality material. I would stay away from Frankenstein rifles made by multiple manufacturers. They can save you money by being milspec, but I think I'd prefer to have everything made and assembled in the same factory. Not saying that you can't piece together a good rifle, just saying it is easier when all the parts are tested to the same standards. The one main exception is having a builder here custom fit it together for you. That way one person sees your rifle from start to finish. Good luck in your search, the AR is a wonderful platform.

only difference is $$$ and not much at that

the RR will come with a national match trigger for the extra coin so don't think that you are just paying more for the same because the RR has a much better trigger group hands down

There is a big difference, depends on what u are comparing carbine vs carbine or varmint vs varmint. I seen DPMS carbines on line the other night for $639 and they had 6 in stock you are not gonna find a RRA for that price anywhere even used. The RRA varmint comes with a national match 2 stage trigger, does the DPMS? You get what you pay for. I'm not knocking DPMS because I should have bought a couple of the guns the other night but o well I got my RRA i need more ammo right now.

Oh ya does DMPS have the customer service that RRA does? Just pay the extra $$ for the RRA, if u ever need to sell it a RRA will sell faster than a DPMS. Just look at it as an investment it better than keeping your money in the bank or ur 401k.

The way things are now I would take whichever I could put my hands on and walk out the door with. Like models with like features will be very close in quality as well as price. Just get an AR, you can make it what you want it to be.

Why does everyone act like AR's arent available? They are and why would you buy from a local shop anyway, because you know thay have raised the price by at least $200. JUst buy online and you don't even have to pay tax. If you can't find an AR you are not on this site enough because I sent about 10 people in 1 day to where I got mine from and they all got a [beeep] of a deal and they all will tell u the same. Do Not Buy The First Ar you See in a shop. Call Adam at Wise Wildlife.

Well [beeep] I'm just going to take my DPMS out and throw that peice of crap in the trash after that post I guess it just sucks in all ways. I thought it was kind of like Ford and Chevy. DPMS started 20 years ago and is now a part of Remington and Bushmaster

Like I said you get what you pay for, why doesn't the gov't and the DEA have a contract with DPMS. Ya they will shoot and they are descent gun but they are no Rock River. Remington has the sa R15 with a [beeep] trigger for the same price I paid for my RRA. Go to AR15.com and ask this question and you will get the same results.

I checked out Adams Gun broker store he will definatly hook you up 1350.00 was his starting bid on NIB RRA Predator Pursuit rifle. RRA lists at 1100.00 through Guns America. and that very RRA gun was the first gun I looked at in my local gun shop priced at 999.00 but I choose my DPMS I just liked it better.

DPMS has also been making rifles longer than RRA

DPMS Firearms, LLC, founded over 20 years ago by President Randy Luth, began as a small government contract consulting company. Luth, himself a product of a precision machine shop that manufactured M-16, M-14 and M203 parts for Army contracts, advised other small machine shops how to find pertinent government contracts, develop the necessary quality control programs and complete the contract in a timely and profitable manner, all the while continuing to broker M-16/AR-15 Mil Spec parts to the commercial markets. After four years, Luth began phasing out the consulting portion of the business to focus primarily on the sale of .45/1911 & AR-15 parts, kits and accessories. During this time DPMS Firearms, LLC began designing and manufacturing rifle accessories and purchased a manufacturer of lower receivers, and with the ability to machine its own precision barrels, the DPMS line of AR-15/M-16 rifles was born.

RRA
The Larson brothers severed their connection with Eagle Arms in 1997 when that firm moved to Geneseo, Illinois. At the same time, Rock River Arms began to build AR-15 style rifles.

I must admit that the Larson brothers do have a good credentials one of them having been partners in Les Baer and the other at the Springfield Armory and I never said they built a bad gun just that I liked my DPMS

There we go again just assuming on the first price we see did u call adam because I know a guy that got one for $1135 and that includes the shipping. Oh and not to mention the other 10 guys that bought from him this week from this site. So he is selling his guns for $10 over list so we can all get one, not $200-$300 more like everyone else. I guarantee u didn't get a DPMS for better than his price that shoots better and that has a better warranty and customer service than the RRA. I bet they sold you a case of wolf to go with that DPMS too. But if you gave 1k for a DPMS then I'm gonna buy all that I can and come to virgina and sell them and make on [beeep] of a profit.
