Eastern sports and outdoor show

Here's a list I found that they are trying to keep updated, but you can imagine the confusion in trying to organize this -

http://mynortheastoutdoors.com/esos-boycott-supporters/

A search will turn up others. We won't know the total outcome till after the show which is Feb 2 -10. Any list is currently probably not gonna be complete. But they're showing almost 200 out now. That's out of about 1200 most years. It was only about 80 last nite. This week'll be interesting. Hope the word effectively gets out to the potential attendees (between 200K and 250K per year) - they're gonna be really disappointed if half the vendors ain't there. They can call it the fishing and camping show next year.

The organizers of the show, Reed Exhibitions, also does the SHOT SHOW - how can they do the Shot Show last week and at the same time announce that they won't allow anything tactical at an Outdoor & Sports Show based on current politics?? Guess I'm supposed to shoot indoors only??? Maybe I didn't get the memo on shooting not being a "sport" anymore??

Stay tuned.

I wouldn't get too excited - there's over 1200 vendors on a typical year - it's gonna take a while to get around to everybody. There's 9 days yet till the show. A bunch of those vendors have nothing to do with hunting - boats, fishing, camping, beanie babies, insoles, jerky, tourist info., State Parks, etc.

Updated list (as much as possible right now) as of about an hour ago -

The list of those boycotting the Eastern Sports Show contains over 200 exhibitors/supporters, 22 speakers, and 3 out of 5 sponsors.

These are the companies that should be getting our business !!!

There's also getting to be some rebuttal from vendors who are going, but are also pro-2nd A. The fallout's gonna be interesting. In the long run, the market for this show is there, and will continue, after Reed steps aside or effectively hides behind a subsidiary or some legal maneuver or some such. This will definitely hurt next year's attendance - no way around that now. I'm very interested to see what happens to the Shot Show next year.

A Special Thanks Should Go Out To Mike B, For Helping To Keep Us Up To Date On The Companies Who Have Withdrawn From This Show. Thanks Mike.

Yes I do appreciate the updates. And I am beginning to wonder about the scope manufacturers myself. Their business revolves around guns, do they not understand that their business is at stake just like gun manufacturers.

I emailed my thanks to S&W and a couple others today, will try to get to some more tonight. Interesting that Dicks announced they would not sell modern sporting rifles within a week of the Newtown shooting. We need to have a loooong
memory of who are friends are. Around here Dicks is mostly a fleece & jockstrap store anyway.

NOT! Just ARs,Mine is still selling every thing else.

Benelli USA, a leader in the firearm industry, today announced that the Company will not attend nor will it support or participate in the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The announcement comes from the recent decisions and changes made by Reed Exhibitions. As a leading advocate for the preservation of the shooting sports, hunting and the firearm industry, Benelli USA believes it is an important time to take a clear stance on its support of sportsmen and the Second Amendment.

Heck, here thought you guys would get tired of my clogging up the forum, and tell me to get a life OFF the internet!! It's big news here in PA - you guys owe me no thanx. Just passing along info. But, please do support the vendors and celebs that took the financial hits they did to back out of the show. Little guys making turkey calls in their basements just lost thousands.

I won't post all the names here to save bandwidth, but here's a site that I've seen that seems to be trying to keep track of it all, even promoting the boycott. There are some interesting articles here too:

http://mynortheastoutdoors.com/

233+ vendors out, and about 40 celebs/speakers. About 20-25% at this point. It's hitting local news even more now. Leupold and Mossberg are out, amongst many more new names. Reed is suspending online ticket sales from what I read, but no announcement as yet.

Wow that's only 25% of the vendors. That must be one big show! Fantastic to get that kind of support. I hope the attendees boycott too. This is a major bust for a promoter. The "modern firearm" term drives me nuts! Semi-autos have been around since the late 1800's.

I actually prefer the term "modern sprting rifle (MSR)" to assault rifles. And i think its refering more to the highly adaptable platform of the ar15 as the modern rifle part of it. not that a semi is modern just the platform

Go to their website and they tell you who is still scheduled to be there. Just a couple notables Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Carl Zeiss Optics, Estes Park Outfitters, Ford trucks,
