Eastern Washington Hunting

Brittdog-
Thanks I will head over to Fancher and get some maps from the BLM office. I am pretty new to predator hunting as well, killed most of my coyotes while hunting other game. Someone should be able to help you out Billsarima here shortly. thanks again guys for some info on how to get started out here.

Just food for thought for you east siders. Don't waste your time with Fishtrap. I think the place gets hit really hard. There are tons of yotes but in 6-8 trips over the last 2 years I've never called one in. I sniped one last year but never called one. The place is lousy with sign but they just don't come. Best thing is to knock on doors and get permission on private ground. Good luck.

I live near Tyler, ten minutes from the Miller ranch (Fishtrap BLM site)thats why I didn't mention it. Way to much activity for decent hunting. Better to hunt the Escure place if you are near Sprague.

Just a side story. On Christmas day I went over to Fishtrap to sight in a new AR. I was surprised to see F&G guy there talking with some folks. Later he came by where I was shooting and we talked for a half hour. Turns out the guys he was talking to were running some coon hounds. They had killed one, but nobody in the group (3) had a small game licence. He had the coon in his truck.

Brittdog,

Is the escure place just south of Sprague? I've heard talk about it but never felt compelled to look into it too much. I know there's a large chunk south of Sprague just wondering if that was it. Was going to try that area out after pheasant season just to explore a bit.

I don't hit public stuff near Spokane too often, I think it just gets hit too hard.

If you ever want to do a little shooting give me a holler. I go out every so often and do some long range shooting out there. And I always have this idiotic need to try new loads.

P.S. You've got to be a fool to hunt Fishtrap or any other public land near Spokane without a license, Knuckleheads!!

Escure ranch is just south of Revere which is south of Sprague. There is a Fish and Wildlife area in the same area.
All the BLM/Fish wildlife areas gets hit hard will easy up after waterfowl season.

I'm available tomorrow (Thursday) between 10am and 1pm. I would go today but my wife just called and she is leaving work early and wants to do a few things this afternoon.

I just had a job interview today in Colfax and I have no idea what will happen next. Might be working a regular job in the coming weeks or much sooner once they make their decision.

And now I have to go shovel snow so she can get into the garage when she gets home.

You must be on the east side of town then huh?

I like Cabelas it's just an hour drive for me and even though they have a good selection they are a little more spendy on some things than Sportsman's. But I could still tolerate a trip one of these days.

Yeah, I live off of Pines. 5 min from SW and 15 from Cabelas. Gotta love it! I don't work in the winter woohoo, gotta love that too! So if anybody wants to grab a bite & meet up let me know.

P.S. Cabelas is alright from what I've seen but now there's plenty of places to comparison shop. I still like to give my gun money to White Elephant if they have what I need and there's not a million people there. Used to like General Store until they started charging so much for guns. They were well over msrp. Must have known they were gonna be shut down & wanted to make as much as possible. Prices were ridiculous towards the end.

Went out on my First trip today about 15 miles up hwy 124 towards Waitsberg Called a couple in but they seemed kinda shy couldnt get them closer then about 200 Yards.. Well maybe tommorrow... and thanks for all the info guys!

I'm going to check out the new Bi-Mart in Cheney, they have ammo, powders, guns and bullets so I need to see what all they have for selections.

I usually mail order most of my stuff, it's cheaper in the long run and I don't have to use my gas to run to town and deal with traffic. I'll have 1500 bullets on the way from Nosler next week and shipping is only 12 bucks.

I can't drive to Spokane and back home on 12 dollars of gas so it saves me some cash to mail order things I need. Usually I'll only go to Spokane once every two weeks and that is to do Costco and Homeless Depot trips then back home and that makes for a full day.

Tonight I went out south of Telford and had a few responding to the call but didnt see them, a ways off. I only made 2 stands and realized walking in that deep snow is tough. Good luck

Even with the snow I could still see tracks in some areas where people had been since the last snow.

Maybe some of you Washington guys are still watching this thread.

I grew up in Kennewick. I'm probably coming home to see the folks about Jan 19-21. Didn't get into predator hunting until I left Washington. Can you tell me the rules for a non-resident? I couldn't seem to find it on the fish and game website.

Thanks,

Eric

I almost feel sorry for you unemployed folks.

Were should we go for coffee? I had to do noting today but shovel my drive way. The weather too bad for hunting today, mabey tommarrow. BOO HOO. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've hunted the Escure place a couple of times in the spring. The place is huge and the few times I've been there never saw another person. Somewhere out there I have a set of shooting sticks.

Better get back to work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
