facist cops disarm soldier

I would like to see the dash cam also. The initial contact is what I would like to see. I would be upset also if a police officer proceeded to un-sling my rifle without asking. We don't know what happened.

There is a LOT more to this story than the above video.

Just as a start, this individual was walking in the town of Temple TX, he has stated he was carrying a 45 and the rifle, to protect himself and his son from cougars, wild boars and coyotes.

Cougars, coyotes, and wild boars, really???

facist cop,I do not think so, like said this guy was looking for confrontation. He is being a complete A$$ hole of example for his son. He is showing off for his son, wonder what other crap he has feed this boy. I could only listen for 5 min. of this jack wagon. Did they prove if he was military? He had an E7/E8 emblem on the hat and if so he could be a lifer or phoney. A lifer is not going to jeprodize his career by doing this. When his comanding officer gets wind of this and they will, he will have to exlpain a lot. An E5 may be his paygrade after this. Would have liked to see him walking the roads around Ft. Hood like this and the MPs stopped him and he talked to them like this. He would have been face down in the dirt and then hauled off to the brig. This guy gives us all a bad rap civilian and military.

What don't you get... If the guy was not breaking the law at all they had no authority to do any of it. Call it how you want but this crap is happening more and more. If Texas is an open carry state, he has the right to carry! As long as he is not threatening or causing a problem he is allowed to carry how he wishes.

It absolutely does not matter why he was carrying it is his right to carry. He had both open carry rights and concealed carry rights. Unless he made threats, which it never happened in the video, or brandished the weapond he still ahd ever right to walk around with his rifle.

I hope he sues the crap out of them. It is not OK for the police to ignore your rights because some idiot thought you looked scary.

He is an E8, with 15 years in the Army. I don't know how he made that grade, but apparently his suction power is better than his brain power.

As far as I know, TX does not allow open carry in public places. You can carry concealed in most public areas, and open on private land, but not open in public. That could have been one of his problems there. I didn't watch the video, so I won't comment further.

a cop is well within his power to stop & talk to you. making a grab for your gun, not so much.

no, cops are not exempt from the law.

I watched maybe half of it. If I'm carrying a weapon openly and an officer orders me to set my weapon down I'm going to comply immediately. Period. Right to carry or not. I've had this happen when deer hunting. He din't have to order me. As soon as I saw him coming I opened the action and leaned it against a tree and stepped several feet away. He questioned me because a neighbor complained. We talked and he told me to have good day. He had an obligation to person complaining to respond.

I think a cop would be nuts to not tell him to disarm.

If I were the cop I'd assume the guy was a nut before I found out he wasn't that's how cops go home at night. Does he have the right I don't know about TX but Indiana we do. I have a feeling if the guy would have complied they would have questioned him and sent him on. The guy with the gun escalated the entire incident. I didn't see any rookie's there.

Just my opinion.

After watching this video, I sent my Brother In Law a text (he is a city police officer in Texas)

Me: "Is it Legal to walk down a street or highway in Texas with a loaded AR15 on a sling?"

Brother In Law: "yes."

Me: "would you disarm a man forcefully just for carrying an AR down the street."

Brother In Law "absolutely not."

Me: "just watched a video of some cops disarm a man for doing just that. Said they felt threatened because he had a gun."

Brother In Law: "yeah I see stupid shtt like that all the time."

Me: Glad you don't agree with these cops. I'm sure the guy with the rifle had an agenda, but these cops flew off the handle. Just because this guy exercised his right to open carry a rifle."

Brother In Law: "No! I'm all about people carrying weapons, so I'm quite the opposite. I always get on to CHL holders for not carrying!

Me: Thanks for your time! I'm glad your a good dude!

Brother In Law: "Not everyone thinks I am a good dude! Oh BTW the only thing I could see them doing is using disorderly conduct, because it's an immediate breach of the peace, because some people are scared. You know people getting scared because this man is exercising his rights. That scares the shtt out of a lot of people! LOL Whatever the charge is I think it's total BS!"

As you can see not all cops would handle this situation as these guys did.

if a cop was to see me carrying & stop to talk to me about it, I wouldn't have a problem with that, so long as it didn't turn into a power trip. and that may start happening. AL does not have a history of open carry & the law & opinions on it are unclear & conflicting.

but we have a bill moving that would clear it up & possibly provide clearly for open carry. I'm fine with that, but people in general & cops as well are not accustomed to it.

If the guy was legally carrying the firearms, why did the cop screw with him? I don't believe the BS about someone called in they saw a guy with a gun or whatever excuse they often use. I still believe too many cops are just frightened about anyone but them having guns.

If I call in to the local police and say I saw a man carrying an umbrella, would the cops check him out like the guy legally carrying a firearm?

Then of course they has to be some other charges to hang on the guy, for the policeman to Cover his arse.

We need more cops like your brother in law! Sounds like he would use some discretion.

I've been dispatched in the past to "man with a gun" calls where no threats have been made but I had to respond. If I located the subject I would stop and make small talk and let him know someone had called. I also would tell him I believed we needed more honest people to have guns. When a police officer has stopped when I had a rifle I would set it down in a non threatening manner and talk to him. The last thing we need is people over reacting to being checked. We don't need to to give the antis any ammunition by our bad actions like this guy obviously has. He doesn't represent honorable citizens or gun owners. He's a low life with a gun that gives us all a bad name.
