Fahrenheit 7-11....anybody gonna see it ?

JRB: I did read about the film and I still intend to view it and that is it. Nothing liberal or anything about it...just a curiousity. As for Clinton's book..NO I will NOT read it out of curiousity because I already KNOW about his dirty laundry that he has chosen to rehash. Roll your eyes and I will roll mine. I am not close minded..period..end of story. I do not believe everything I read about the film..I have read good and I have read bad...I want to form MY OWN opinion. You are chosing to let the people who view it in a negative way form yours! That of course is your right to do.

Weedwacker: Do tell...what do YOU know about these so called reductions in medications for seniors and the disabled? As I have seen...there is NO real benefit unless you are so poor you can barely eat. I worked hard all my life to have what I have and I pay top dollar for my medications. There is NO reason for me to participate in this sham of a program and YES I have inquired! I will continue to buy in Canada until they arrest me for my *illegal* purchases. HAH! That is ONE thing that GW did that disgusts me entirely...tell us where to buy our meds and fatten the drug companies pockets. sheesh Now I am NOT Bush bashing..that is really only ONE thing that SO FAR I have a REAL beef about. I dare say though that when Medicare reform comes through it will be just like the *ahem* stuff that HMOs pull off! Our health care system is in shambles. The only real benefits are to the insurance companies. I am sickened that they can tell doctors how to practice medicine! Yes...doctors ruined it by ordering ridiculous tests...but I recently had a growth on an ovary. The very NEXT thing any prudent doctor would do is a blood test called the CA125. HAH..the insurance company said it was NOT medically necessary! I called and quite naturally flipped out. I suppose they would rather wait and treat a person for Ovarian cancer which can be rather costly. Why not TRY to find it early. The growth was picked up on a CTScan for something else so there were no symptoms and had it been cancer, it would have been early in the game. Luckily it was not...I still do not know for sure if they will pay...but $125 is a small cost in reality for me..I just find the entire thing ludicrous!

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought a "Documentary" was a truthful represenation of the facts. As stated in the definition
"A work, such as a film or television program, presenting political, social, or historical subject matter in a factual and informative manner and often consisting of actual news films or interviews accompanied by narration."This does not mean that you can edit it to your liking. Factual and Informative matter means just that.
This is simply not the case with Moores film. His film is nothing more than propoganda, and a political ad. He is actually very smart in this aspect, usually you have to pay for political advertising, but here, he is getting people to pay him to see it. To think there are people that actually believe this type of garbage in very sad.

Also to think that people have forgotten, or don't care, about the attack of 9-11-01 and the continued threat to this country is a sad statement. I believe there is a real divide growing in this country and it isn't good. People need to make informed decisions based on facts, not propoganda, it is propoganda that has taken this country down in the past.

So Jane, you want nothing in aid for the poor people that can't put food on the table but yet you want to keep insurance and meical companies from making a fortune? Wow, again those are opposite ends of the political spectrum from one person. What do you think CBS news would run a story on if Bush cut taxes and health care for the MIDDLE class only? There would be people starving in the streets and robbing drug stores left hand right... thats what would be covered.

What you're either wealthy enough that you don't qualify for the program or you don't understand the prescription drug benefit. In polls something like 80% said it wouldn't help them but then admitted knowing nothing about it... then after using it 90% said it helped them and they were satisfied. Then again, we're dealing with the section of society that doesn't have to react off of information, just emotion about how their being oppressed.

I'm not going to waste my time going to see Moore's film. It's pure garbage as far as I can tell, and I think most Americans see it as that also. Sure, there's a small and vocal group of dim-wits out there that will hold the movie up as gospel, but their numbers don't matter at the ballot box. I tend to believe this movie is going to hurt the left this Nov. especially if people find out that the middle-east terrorists are helping to distribute this film over there because it helps their cause.

I think Mr. Moore should consider himself very lucky that he resides in this country that he appears to dislike so much. In many other countries he would be jailed or possibly executed for producing such a large compilation of nonsense. It would easily fall in the treason category as defined by many, many governments. Like all his movies, 9/11 is simply a compilation of clips taken out of context and pasted together in a fashion that will support his dislike of the United States. After 9/11 he basically said the US is the terrorist and we deserved what we got. What a jackass.

No matter who is in charge of this country you can't change the fact that it is the best country to live in. No other country offers the freedoms available here. Freedom to have an opinion, viewpoint, and ability to speak your mind without fear of reprisal. If anything Mr. Moores movie has proved that.

I primarily vote republican. Is it because I think they have a better handle on how to run this country? Not really. Although I dread the thought of how 9/11 would have been dealt with if Clinton or Gore would have been in charge. Sending a tomahawk missile or two to blow up aspirin factories is not very effective at curbing terrorism. I vote republican for one or two very selfish reasons. Mainly I want the party that is least likely to meddle in my personal affairs. Historically the party that butts in to my business the most is the Demos. Obviously my lifestyle revolves around hunting and firearm ownership so for me the Demo will never be the circle I color in at the ballot box. If they were not so darn rabid about trying to strip this right away from the people and out of the constitution too, they may see an increase in support.

I really don't care for any politician. Call me paranoid but they all strike me as scammers and snake oil peddlers. The cold hard fact is I can't recall any politician in recent history having a noticeable positive impact on my life. I am making less money than I did 15 years ago but paying much more for everything else. My health insurance sucks. I have no social security to look forward to, no retirement nestegg to speak of. Almost mandatory to have both husband and wife work to make ends meet. Everyone is taxed to death while we watch our government just piss money down the toilet with no accountability.

The big slap in the face is the fact these politicians (Repub and Demo) who rock on their nuts for a couple years playing politician, get to receive a way overpaid pension for themselves (and spouse even after they die). All on our dime. Meanwhile the sheep just keep going to work to try and keep the pot of gold full for these useless pencil pushers running the "show".

Now on the subject of WMDs. It is no secret Bush was acting on information that the UN, the Clinton administration, and many other sources had provided. It's a huge sand box over there and these weapons could easily go undetected and quite likely these weapons may have been moved to bordering countries. Syria or Iran or another nearby country could have easily taken possession. Even without finding WMDs we had the right to remove Iraq's ruler for noncompliance to post war agreements he made.

On the subject of presidents, the thing that truly amazes me is that in a country with a billion+ citizens, these candidates who run, are what we have to choose from every four years. Just blows me away that out of all the people we have in this country, this is the best we can come up with? My gosh there are people on this board who would be a better choice than most of the presidents we have had.

No, Bush is no rocket scientist or the orator that Clinton was said to be. Although Bill seemed to have lost some of his orating skills in a recent live interview when confronted with the question of why he did his womanizing while in office. He made Bush look like the greatest orator of all time. The ability to baffle with BS does not a good president make.

Anyway, in my opinion all politicians leave a lot to be desired when it comes to intelligence and integrity. Not one I would trust. Elections always end up being separation of the worse of the two evils. Picking the fella that lies good enough to convince the people he thinks just like them and is going to make a change. Still waiting.....

Take care

What the heck do you think Rush Limbaugh was doing....taking stuff TOTALLY out of context! Name of the game on both sides if you ask me. I gave that fool about as much time as I will Moore.
I listen and draw my own conclusions...just because he disagrees with some things....does that mean he hates this country? Oh..NO you said APPEARS to...well in my book when you say the word *appear* you back it up with fact. Heck I could say a lot of people *appear* to hate this or that....that is a subjective observation...not objective! I could say a person is unhappy because he is crying when in fact he could be elated! Have you asked Mr. Moore how he feels about this country? Just having a different viewpoint than yours does not mean he hates America.
I bet he would answer...I think it is particularly interesting that he asked many people in Washington if their sons would sign up for the reserves. Now I ONLY saw that on tv..so I want to see the movie to get the REAL scoop on it.
Once again you all are rolling your eyes...but once again SO am I!

It is said that when it comes to politics, there's lies, damn lies and statistics.
Moore's "Documentary" is nothing more than creative editing for fun and profit.

Selective quotes seldom provide an accurate picture of someone or their point of view.

"I am not a crook!"...Tricky Dicky Nixon

"I did not have sex with that woman!" Slick Willy Clinton

"I am not close minded..period..end of story"....Ladyjane 107 { and I'm sure she means it, so don't bother trying to change her mind.} /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

"I am some kind of anti-American subversive" ....Krusty Klimber

See what I mean. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It's all in the presentation. Probably some distance from the truth.

I'll wait till Moore's "documentary" comes out in paper, preferably on a roll, so I can put it to good use in the outhouse in hunt camp. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Curt , if you ran for political office, and I lived in your area, I'd vote for you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif The only problem would be I couldn't be impressed with your clear, concise, critical thinking after you were elected. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif As usual a voice of reason in the wilderness.

If a Democrat/Liberal makes a statement and no one hears it, is it still crap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Just asking. Don't get your undergarments in a twist.

Lady Jane god forbid they start a government program that does not put cash directly into YOUR pocket. How dare they! Here's an idea, if you have a growth on your ovary and your insurance company won't pay to diagnose it properly, get out the checkbook and pay the doctor to look at it. Believe it or not you can still do that, they will look at you funny, but they will take your money. But you better hurry up because that will be outlawed when that "everything is owed to me" attitude spreads far and wide enough to usher in a Hillarycare type system!

Oh, And Jane, for the record... there were AT LEAST TWO law makers that were edited from the footage... of corse they had sons, brothers and in-laws in iraq. And then again... because their fathers did very well in life and earned a good living, put their sons through private schooling and got them into college where they were able to get good jobs... should the sons be drafted just because their father is a politician? Why does the father work as much as he does? So his son can be taken into war or hanging drywall? Signing up for the armed services is a very admirable and honerable thing... its a great option for millions of young men and women, but there are fathers out there working hard every day so their sons can live a better, happier, safer life than they did. If you want to take that away just come out and say it, then maybe we'll all have substandard health care too!

ladyjane, I don't recall saying I was a fan of Rush. He annoys me as much as Mr. Moore frankly. Undoubtedly there are kooks on both ends of the Repub. and Demo. spectrum. I personally don't care for any extreme views, but hey, for the moment it's a free country. They really need to start a third party called The "Common Sense" party. There's a concept.

lady, you claim that "in your book" by using the word "appear" I need to back up my statements with fact. Well, you are certainly cutting Mr. Moore a lot more slack than you are me it "appears". LOL! I have nothing to prove. Unless I'm mistaken, I did not use the word "hate" in the statement you are referring to. Big difference "in my book". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dislike-"To regard with disapproval."

Hate-"To have animosity or hostility toward. To detest."

Anyway, my post wasn't meant to get you all fired up lady. Some parts are actually supportive of your views. Put your rockets away and let your pulse slow down. I typed my post with a smile and no exclamation points. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Redfrog my friend, you hit the nail on the head about "creative editing for fun and profit". I totally agree. Can't blame him for wanting to make a buck I guess. In that respect, I guess I'm kind of jealous. LOL!

That's it for me. I like talking politics about as much as I like politicians. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Later

1. Ladyjane: I agree with you completely on Rush, What an idiot. There is alwauys folks on both sodes of the fence that take things completely out of context.

2. Krustyklimber: You views on our president and support for M. Moore strike my curiosty and interest. I personally am not a Michael Moore supporter and that is my opinion just as you are in title to yours. I am for the most part, I am a supporter of President Bush. Again, that is my opinion as you are in title to yours.

Now, your love for pred hunting and support for M. Moore seems to be the preverbial burning of the candle at both ends. Unless, that is, you souly hunt with a bow. I say this because of the movie "Bowling for Columbine." What are your views of Michael Moore's Movie "Bowling for Columbine"?

Now, I do not want to get into the name calling and BS with you that has been going on in this thread. My question is for curiosity interest only. I am curious because you seem to believe what Michael Moore says about his recent movie. You seem convinced that it is complete truth. And, that he wouldn't lie or enhance things to sell to a certain audience.

So, if that is the case, then in my mind, you must have seen "...Columbine" and took Moore for telling the complete truth and stretching no facts.

Again, my question too you is for curiosity purposes only. I will accept and not disrespect your answer in any way.

Ladyjane, I can certainly understand your wanting to see Mr. Moores fine movie, In hopes of it lending valuable insight, and helping to draw informed conclusions, as to the downfalls of the Bush Administration. Oh and here are some rolleyes  ...lol Please be prepared to stand in a long line waiting to buy tickets. A Line, that if you look very carefully, will look a lot like the welfare line in any large city. If you want to draw some quick well informed insights, and conclusions, Ask loudly, " How many of you standing in this line, cashed a goverment check, then came straight to the theater, to contribute Mr. Moores wallet, as opposed to groceries, electric, or gas?" Please inform all of us as to your findings. For best lines, and test results, I'd recomend you go on the 1st, or the 15th of the month. One other thing I'd love for you to report about your day at the movies, would be the number of local news reporters standing next to the line, interviewing well informed voters about their opinions of George Bush. I'm so sick of reporters interviewing these people I can hardly see straight. The media has a great way of interviewing people looking for a handout, of their opinions. I personally think only taxpayers should get to vote, boy wouldnt that force the Dems to get serious about issues, and not promise better handouts to get votes.

God forbid that working people... taxpaying people get to make the decisions out the government is run! Its all about the helpless being heard and taken care of... if it weren't we'd be called TEXAS UNITED instead of the USA /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Amen brother jrb! Let's start a new thread. Shall we call it, "Republican Boiling Point" A Documentary of Common Sense........ Build it and they will come.....

We just had our governor overturn a death ticket for a guy who assisted a man murdering his parents last week. I'm tired of this pacifist crap hurting the taxpayers, the victims and the REAL PEOPLE of this country. There are too many "ciminal rights", "Liberal Media" and "anti-american" people getting rich off of spoon feeding mindless sheep with heart wrenching stories! It gets old, and our only recourse is to get the right people elected. GO MITCH DANIELS. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

AHA the truth IS out there! This is all simply a Republican majority of people with their minds set. If Hitler were a Republican would you STILL feel that way? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I do hope you all see the humor in that remark...but I see the torrent coming...haha

UH.....as for the remark about should Bush make it easier on the people who can afford it..YES! Some will go BROKE because of it! Just because they can afford it does not mean they will live well. Paying cash for medicine is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive..try it sometime and report back to me about how YOU feel about it!! I worked all my life..busted my ass, and if I did not have some means I would be flat out busted broke. If it means I am looking down from my ivory tower so be it..but hey...if you work hard all your life and plan for the future then you must pay the price for those who DID NOT? I would NOT think any of you would agree with that...seems MORE than liberal to me!!! Is that not liberal ALL by itself or am i misreading there?????? Who do YOU think is paying for it all? I am NOT against helping..but I AM against handouts for people who did not prepare and who are waiting for the handouts. I well imagine most of you do not have ANY idea what I am saying or have experienced it ... or you would NOT be touting some of the viewpoints you are. OR perhaps you are the people Bush is assisting..those who did NOT prepare for retirement? I do not know because I do not know any of you OR your means of existence. It is that OR I think you have read things that are just not so...and believe them.

QUOTE: God forbid that working people... taxpaying people get to make the decisions out the government is run! Its all about the helpless being heard and taken care of... if it weren't we'd be called TEXAS UNITED instead of the USA
ENDQUOTE

I am NOT TEXAS born btw although Bush is! hehe And, last I saw around here OUR votes mattered!#!Now you say that the working people in this country should NOT have a say in their government? And...that they should go back to supporting those who have not planned a way for their future? Are you pro-welfare? Was that tongue in cheek??? I hope so! OR are you saying that the rich should get rich and the poor stay poor while the middle class suffers once again and starts to join the poor? *confused* I believe that has been a historical problem....two classes!

The program actually is NOT helping even the poor as much as YOU think it is! It might help SOME (but it is only a bone). But...I am not going to go on and on about it. I said it..I have investigated...it is fact. And...yes it is a disgrace that the fat pockets of the drug industry COULD sell their medications at a cheaper rate and STILL make a fortune. I personally do not care...if people THINK Bush has done something super wonderful with the Medicare program fine..that is their opinion. I have NO beef with the fact that the majority of Americans are so brainwashed that they think Canadian pharmacies are selling medications that are substandard...I did MY investigation and take care of myself. I have one doctor who believes the rhetoric about Canadian pharmacies and refuses to fax prescriptions for his patients because he thinks the medications are substandard...he is a FINE example of a person who believes everything he/she reads! I just think it is a total disgrace that Bush should try to make that illegal! (I am NOT referring to other out of country pharmacies who sell controlled substances without a prescription...Canadian pharmacies do not do that...matter of fact they do not even sell controlled substances!) Obviously, none of you have the medication bills that I have...count your lucky stars because your good buddy Bush would be of NO use to you with that law!! AND NO I AM NOT BASHING HIM...IT IS BUT ONE THING THAT I DISAGREE WITH....and I have personal experience and apparently understand it more than all of you.

Another problem is the mark up on medications. Just do something when you have some time....get just ONE medication and call around to all of the pharmacies in your area and price that medication (same medication...same dosage). If you have not done it before, it is an eye opener.

Also...ask any drug representative or doctor what happens to EXPIRED medication samples.

And...if my mind is NOT closed..then it must be that it is open to other ideas. eh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You all are way too funny sometimes, but I suppose it is why I stick around. I happen to like most of what you say and have learned to see the humor much of it as well as the seriousness!

Hitler was a liberal, punish those who practice religion and take away everyones guns. If Hitler were a republican we would be talking about movies made by Rush Moore. (and there would be no mountain sharing the name)

LJ107, it's a good thing to see some humor in this forum, it keeps things calm and civil. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It wasn't the "close minded" part of the quote I was having a problem with, it was the balance with the last part trying to emphasize the first. For some reason "period...end of story sounds so...so..."Discussion closed" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

And by the way, any of you that would like to agree with me.............TOO LATE, I've changed my mind. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Does "free thinker" mean that you can flip flop political minds with the wind? Your sentences often contradict each other when you type Jane.

"The program actually is NOT helping even the poor as much as YOU think it is!"

And you've seen this program in action? Because its been instituted nationwide? The full thing has been rolled out? The constituants understand and have the full system available to their usage? MAN I GOTTA READ WHATEVER YOU ARE!

"But...I am not going to go on and on about it"
Is this a disclaimer so that you don't have to explain yourself? I'm all ears for this investigation... my mother in law (Doctor) is also here and ready to hear what you can teach us what we can't find on medical and news websites... she's democrat and pulling for you.

I said it..I have investigated...it is fact
Good, because it seems you've already stretched the realm of believable information on the subject.

And...yes it is a disgrace that the fat pockets of the drug industry COULD sell their medications at a cheaper rate and STILL make a fortune.
So now we are liberal again? You want regulation so that the poor little people aren't paying for the salaries of people that invested 10 years of their life to become doctors and pharmasist? You're losing me.

"I did MY investigation and take care of myself."
So you're buying illegal drugs from canadians? In case your research didn't pick it up, the money still goes to Eli Lilly and such... the profit margin is different for the false storefront but the bottom line remains.

Obviously none of you have the medication bills that I have...count your lucky stars because your good buddy Bush would be of NO use to you with that law!!

I am at a BBQ tonight with eleven people, the total combination of which have spent less on healthcare in the last year than you spent on the ankle biting dog of yours in one surgery. I don't feel sorry for you, liberals would, but I don't. If you don't like the medication prices either move to canada or let whatever ails you kill ya'. Sorry, thats harsh I know, but jesus, complaining that the poor get all the breaks yet the republicans don't understand your theories is just confusing as hell. You need to start a political party and see if you can find any other members.... I'll report back after another 8-9 beers and see if I'm following your theories yet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
