Favorite Firearm Rest

So what's everyone using as a shooting rest.

Bipod attached to the rifle or a tripod set up?

Let's hear about your favourite setup.

Im thinking about a Harris Bipod. They have a model that swivels around now or even that bog pod tripod...

3 legs get in the way and are too slow to move for predators. Something with 2 legs. I like stoney point rapid pivot so I can keep my hands free for my shotgun.

I a a big fan of the Harris swivel model. I have this one http://www.midwayusa.com/product/155546/...nt-6-to-9-black that goes out in the field with many times a years (like every time I go!) and I see no way it will ever wear out. So much more handy than a bag.

I love my Harris. Well worth the money in my book.

For coyotes I just use some cross sticks that I made. They were made just so when I sit in my shooting chair they are just the right height. If I need to have gun higher I just move the legs together. I can move and adjust them quickly if predators come in from different direction. I use Harris bipod for prairie dogs because I usually shoot at longer distances. Rudy

I have some barely used stoney point bi pods. No idea why I have 2 sets since I rarely use them. Most of the time I try to sit cross legged so that I can move around if I need to.

Really depends where I'm setting up. Hilly and I can get on a down slope I'll use a Harris swivel.
If I'm looking over brush and such tall bipods get too wobbly for precision work.

What I have started using in the field is what I have been using in competition, Harris (if not a bipod grab the sling) attached and open on my rifle and a tripod with a swivel head.

Grab a leg of the bipod or the sling while grabbing the tripod head (or tree branch) at the same time. You now have 2 very solid contact points. Pull in the rifle with your trigger hand and give the front hand a pull...very sturdy.

forgot to add using a knee is great, try a simple but really effective trick.
if you have a barricade, branch, shooting sticks etc and shoot right handed you most likely bring your left knee up and put your left elbow on it.
next time put your left knee on the ground and bring your right knee up. put your right elbow on.
you know have 3 point of contact not just 2..
bipod/sticks up front
butt stock in shoulder
right elbow on right knee
once you elbow is on the knee you stabilize your upperbody. gets rid of the wiggles.
simple but works really well

I also use and like the Primos Trigger stick with two legs and that locks in place or allows the two legs to slide up and down independently when you pull the trigger. I sit on a bucket with a swivel lid on the top of the bucket and the Primos Trigger Stick adjusts in height quickly and then locks in place where I want it.

Primos Trigger Stick's with 1, 2, or 3 legs, very hard to beat. I've used Bog, Stoney Point, Harris, and homemade - a couple others I forget - but I almost exclusively use Primos Trigger Stick's these days.

I use a short "bench style" Harris pod as a kickstand to keep my rifle out of the wet grass or snow, but I shoot from a Trigger stick.

I shed the weight of my Harris. I've come to love the bipod the new Primos trigger sticks ! Rapid deployment, fully adjustable.
Just do the google search on them at the top of the page. You will find MANY on here love them.

Check out Predator Als sight if you want to make a set from sticks.

Happy shopping !

Harris bi-pods with notched legs and Pod-Loc, Bog Gear. Also use a Carbon fiber tri-pod with a Pig Saddle.
All depends on the circumstances.
