I am looking for a sling or strap for my new Kimber and wondering if any of you have one that you really like and would recommend. I have used several different slings on different rifles and have liked some better than others, but I have never had one that I thought was the best out there. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I've used The Claw for many years on my turkey guns, it's a bit heavy, but works well for carry on the shoulder a lot. For hunting where I like to have rifle in hand most of the time, I like a lighter sling like the Mountain sling by Uncle Mikes, it's super light, but has the grabby coating on it that keeps it on your shoulder.

I use the Klaw also... I will also use a Butler Creek sling from time to time. The Klaw is great because it will not slip off your shoulder no matter what. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I got one made by Allen, don't remember what model it is though. It's a neoprene type material in the middle. I like it so far.

Super slings are on all my rifles! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I really like em and the swivels.Plus if you buy 1 say at Wally World and you want a custom fit I just mail em too Outdoor Connection who makes em and they cut to size like from swivel stud to swivel stud.I had a black 1 that I had for a while on a rifle,a screw came out and I called em up and they said send it back for a new one.I asked if I could have camo too. They said yup and cut to size and even has the newer style swivels on it.They are nice slings too! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As a spot and stalk hunter, i'm down on hands and knees often enuf that i needed a sling system that'd hold tight to my body, so i thought about it for awhile and i came up with a system that myself and others like. I simply take a regular sling of any thickness that uses 1" webbing at 1 end, and "insert" a Fastex snap, exactly like a backpack waist buckle system (only the smaller 1" version of same). It's simple to insert, and allows me to tighten the rig-- rifle or handgun as tight as i want on my back or belly, and is easy to unlatch with the snap without having to contort to get it off once i get to my shooting spot from prone. It also makes it very quick to adjust for a long opening to wear over my head and across the back on the opposite shoulder.

I like the Padded Super Sling. Very durable and easy to adjust the length of quick. Also easy and quick to take off/put back on your gun.

Say does anyone know if you can get a WHITE sling or a snow camo sling? I would like one for my rifle when I end up putting my snow camo on it for winter calling.

Vero Vellini.

They're lightweight and they stay in place on your shoulder. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

x2, they also have a little "shock absorber" value.

Years ago I liked the military style leather slings. Of course I didn't know they were heavy, soaked up water, and would rot and mildew/mold. I tried one of the nylon Mountain Slings from Uncle Mikes and realized the advantages of a synthetic material. That Mountain Sling and the Vero Vellini are my fav's as I stated before. I don't neccesarily like all synthetic slings. Some are cheezy looking, cheaply made, too bouncy on the shoulder, to slippery, to grippy, flat out ugly, ect... In those cases I would go back to a good leather sling in a heartbeat. That is if the Mountain Sling and V.V. sling were suddenly not available.
