FFL transfer fees are awful!!

you cant do a ffl transfer at a reg. sporting good shop around here. they all want $75-100. pawns shots that sell guns are usually $25. my ffl dealer charges $20 and $5 for each additional as long as its at one time. I know of other ffls that charge $10-15 for each gun no matter how many at one time.

Got one guy that's at $5, and one at $30. You're being ripped off unless MI has a need for something extensive that PA doesn't.
 
10 bucks here.

There's another small shop in town that I wanted to give some business to so I transferred one to him. He charged me 40 and that was the last time I felt the need to spread the love around.
 
My guy charges $10. If I buy new, I buy directly from him, only do transfers on used guns. Every transfer I've done with him I've bought reloading components even though he is a little high, to show my appreciation.
 
Mine does it for $5 just to help his annual number stay up, apparently the ATF doesn’t like him having his licenser/cert? just to buy wholesale.

$75 is ridiculous? Use them to support local business? Are you kidding me! If local business wants me to use them, they should be a little more competitive. I have bought almost every single gun that I own online, because I can shop hard, buy under retail, save tax, and help out my local dealer with the transfer  If I can get close local, I will do that, but rarely can I even get close, then throw in tax on a $500 purchase and it just gets worse.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but if I save a $100 on each gun, every 5 guns and I get another one for free, well worth being choosy where I spend my money.
 
My guy does the transfers for free no matter if your a first time customer our long standing friend. I havent had to use his services for that yet though. Any gun I have ever wanted he can get it for me cheaper than I can find it anywhere else.

No it isnt. I would prefer to keep the shop name anonymous.

I wouldn't keep quiet. Help someone else from making the same mistake.

I had a gun shipped to a local "wholesale" type store once just because it was convenient. After he had the gun he told me it would be $40. I thought that was insane (The store around town known to have the highest prices only charges $25). Ended up, I paid $28 to get it shipped out of his hands & still paid a $25 FFL elsewhere but he didn't get any of my money.

I understand that the smaller stores have trouble competing with internet sales. However, is it better to get $25 or nothing at all? Odds are most internet guns are used or specialized (mine are anyway). I would never buy anything from the store trying to charge $75 & would tell who it is... If he makes $75 for selling a gun himself that cool. But there is NO overhead (his money not tied up, no storing, no ordering, no hassle) in a gun that is shipped to him & all he needs to do is 3 minutes of work at most... I would be willing to bet this store has bulk 5.56 ammo for $600+ a case too.

BTW, I have a guy now does it for $10.
