Flextone Echo Review and Questions

Well here is my little review about the Flextone Echo electronic caller.

I purchased my 1st Echo on May 24th from a site sponsor. Shipping was fast. I opened up the box and took out the caller. Everything looked good. It has 2 speakers, tons of sounds (although no locator howl/siren like on the fox pro, LCD remote, rechargable batteries (although on both echos I have had they don't recharge more than 50%?), and shoulder strap. Well it took all of 5 minutes to have it put together and was trying it out. Inside the house everything seemed to work well. Well I took it outside in the backyard and set it out ~ 25 yards (it has an estimated range or 300 yards). Started to work through the sound but I kept having my commands not going through to the receiver. It would only work well at ~10 yards. I was bummed so I contacted the manufacturer who referred me to the vendor. I contacted the vendor and shipped it off to them for another (they didn't ask questions which was nice

but I did have to send it off on my own dime another $10

). Shipping once again was fast on the turn around from the vendor so props on speed.

Well I get out the second one and it looks all good. This time I take it out and put the batteries in and charge it good first. Take it out to give it a whirl ~25 yards the reception is perfect

then trouble...... I tried to switch from 2 speakers to 1 speaker and alternate and I find out that only 1 speaker is actually outputting at 100% the other is very faint and when I try to switch to the weak speak and mute the loud speaker I still get sound out of the loud speaker (although very faint) and minimal sound out of the weak speaker. Needless to say I am pretty bummed. I sent off another email to the manufacturer (I don't want to bother the vendor because it's not their fault) but I haven't received any word back and will probably end up contacting the vendor which will mean another $10 out of my wallet and I hope when I get it done I will have a fully working caller.

Overall if I can get a caller that works as advertised I will be very happy. It has all of the features that I want with a killer price but if I have to keep sending it back in I am going to be fast approaching the Foxpro Spitfire E caller.

Hope this helps and I will keep it updated as I here from the manufacturer.

As to my questions,

1. I was curious if anyone else has had similar problems with the remote or speakers.

2. Has anyone had problems with the batteries recharging to 100%?

Thanks

The one I "had" did the same thing when muting one speaker, the muted speaker still played ever so faintly. In fact all 3 echos I had gotten to hear, the muted speaker doesn't completely mute. I had to reseat the remote battery to get it to set in properly that and really TWISTING the charger into the port on the caller seemed to fix all my charging issues.

What caller did you guys switch to? I still want this echo to work but I'm not made of money and want it to work

Thanks

I own a CS24 and a Minaska BC(my boat anchor) The Echo wasn't a bad call, I got mine at gander mountain for under 90 bucks. I installed a audio out port and a switch to turn off the rear cone speaker and used a TOA610 speaker instead. It worked much better. I traded it off for funds to buy a Minaska BC,,,The upside with the ECHO is 90 of the 100 sounds are High Dollar WT sounds!!! To buy 90 sounds from WT would cost 900 dollars!!!!

If you give up on your Echo, Foxpro has reconditioned spitfires with 24 sounds and 1yr warranty on their site for 125.00... Even a better deal a reconditioned Wildfire with 35 sounds, the TX9 remote with 2 presets and FOXBANG for 165.00.

Thanks for the info. I went to foxpro website but didn't see the refurbished ones. Could you IM me the link?

thanks

I bought 3 and returned them to midwayusa where I got them a while back over a years time. I had no speaker problems, but the remote screen washed out in sunlight/daylight and 1 had charging issues. None were loud enough for my usages on the open lands out here.
I just went with a Foxpro Fury and have had no headaches since.

I got mine at cabelas.

First one I charged it up and the unit would charge but the remote would not.

I called the manufacture and they sent me out a new remote battery no hassel or charge.

I said screw it and sent the whole thing back to cabelas on their dime since it was a defect(cabelas is always top notch and so is their visa customer service so no surprise).

New one came works perfect. Charges great, remote has never given me trouble. Battery life is enough for me but never used it in colder then 40's.

Called a dog in and killed it on the very first stand I used it and have called in a few more since then.

Have a spare remote battery so that is good.

Only complaint is it could be louder. I finish up stands with a loud jackrabbit hand call if it is windy which it always is in the mojave desert.

I only call predators a few times a year, not like some of you at it every week. I can't justify 250-500 for my secondary hunting hobby. 500 bucks is a lot of quail and chukar hunting! I like handcalls just as much but I get a headache after using it all day at high elevations and find they work just as well.

Well the vendor was great to work with. Today I sent it back and am probably going to end up with a Foxpro. Too bad I was really hoping this would have worked out.

Good deal.
I was always pleased with mine until it quit responding to the
remote a couple times. I think that was more my fault then anything else.

My remote dont work if there is anything between the call and the remote. i just lift it up a bit higher and point it straight at it. Its never failed since ive tried tht.

I've killed several yotes with it, while it's twirling around... while being suspended on a swivel hook from a limb. I let hard chargers come on it and get shot while they are trying to jump up at it. Echo works for me.

And while it twirls around... it blows the sound all around in different directions. The remote always works further than I've ever needed it.
