Foxpro review from a Foxpro Junkie

Just got back from a week long hunt where volume was everything, We used 5 foxpro callers during this week and I will report how they worked out. I am self admitted a Pro-Foxpro guy. Their customer service is great and being made in the USA is huge to me.

My buddies FX5 used it one day. External speaker would not work and then the Rotator knob would not select new sounds so we shelved it.

My snow-crow pro kept blowing fused on max volume with 4 speakers. I switched the battery out to make sure it had the proper power supply and still blew fuses. My first snowcrow pro was returned to cabala's cuz it just quit working.

My Fury 2 things wrong with this caller. First thing is it often goes into single sound play mode when you shut it off. I love learning how these callers work so I have zero trouble navigating on the remote to see it is still in continuous mode [default) but plays any sound just once. I simply have to click on continuous and then it works fine. The rotator knob is very sticky like hard to push down then it sticks down. This caller has already been service by Foxpro.

My Prairie blaster: Would not run on high volume with 2 external speakers attached. Unit just shuts off. I replace all 8 "D" batteries and same issue still happened. I was using energizer batteries. I ordered a battery for this unit from foxpro and it was delivered to my house while I was gone. I inserted the battery after charging it and now the unit seems to work fine. Maybe Foxpro should let people know or include the rechargeable battery with this unit and bump the price up. Nothing more frustrating then see birds way off turning up the caller and the unit shuts off so you need to get out of the blind go turn the caller off then back on!

My Krakatoa. This caller worked flawlessly for 5 days of max volume ear blasting levels. The 10 AA batteries lasted about 4 1/2 hours at max volume with another large TOA speaker attached to it.

One thing I KNOW is Foxpro will take care of me as they have int he past

That is why I love their callers and am so loyal to them. I would like to grind up that snow crow pro and just sent it in and tell them to keep keep it he he he

.

It just seems so funny Foxpro can keep me as a loyal customer and I left my WT caller at home for this trip.

Customer service = everything to me.

The CS-24 and Krakatoa will be the number 1 and number 2 caller with in 2 years is my guess. Simple easy and loud. The only thing left to add is better way to charge teh batteries.

And to cap off my trip I bought a FX5 in the bargin cave at Cabels's on my way home:).

You're a more loyal customer than me. If I had 4 out of 5 $500+ callers that would not work I think I would be ripping my hair out on my way to purchase one of their competitors products. Luckily my Foxpro seems to work for me all the time because I can't stand having a product that doesn't work when you want it regardless of whether or not the manufacturer will fix it for free.

I don't know the real % of faulty units. I can tell you I've had 2 and my buddy has 1 and none of the 3 have failed.

for every one that has an issue, 1000 don't. they are well worth the money and you getting a bad one is a long shot off, pardon the pun. i have a second hand FX5 that was an FX3 that was updated to the 5 model and it works flawless. my .02

Wow that is some bad luck there! I have 2 friends with FX3's I have a Scorpion and a CS24 and none of us have every had a problem. All of the units work great and have never had problems with the remotes or issues at all. I just sent both of my units in to have some reprogramming done to them because I didn't want to mess anything up on them.

Of all the guys that say they have nver had a problem (and I do believe them), I do have to wonder how often they go? I hunt coyotes every single month of the year. In fact other than during big game season I usually get out 1 to 3 times a week. I have had mulitiple problems with my FX5, but I believe it has a lot to do with being used a lot. Fox Pro has ALWAYS been great to work with and have got me back up and running in no time. I wish automobile companies were so easy to work with.

Good point I only use mine a couple times a month and my buddy is about the same so my caller certainly has less use time than yours.

I bought a Fury in August and was having alot of problems with it so I sent it back. They were very nice and got it back to me quickly. The problem with that is I am now having other problems with it that I was not having the first time.

I am pretty bummed out with it. I spent ALOT of money on that call and hate the fact that I keep having to send it back. Good thing I am a hand caller at heart and I know the hand calls wont fail on me. They are nice people though and will try there best to help you get your problem fixed.

Some of the problem I am having now are, it mutes when it feels like it. It shows M for mute when it is still running, and shows no M when it is muted.

When I mute it and then change the call it will start playing the previous sound rather than the one I just picked. So it starts playing the old sound then I have to push the knob a few times before it starts playing my new sound. Also when I mute it, change the sound, then try to turn it down so my new sound isn't to loud, it starts playing as soon as I push the volume button even with it still showing muted.

I hope it is working flawlessly when I get it back because there is a big sportsman's tournament coming up with BIG prizes and I wouldn't mind having the Ecall to go along with the hand calls. If it still has problems when I get it back I'm am gonna see if I can get it exchanged for the CS24. All I hear is good things about that call.

I hear ya it seems like if the mute signal is not received at the unit the M still shows on the remote.

One feature that can be a life saver is the presets. I have one set at 000 and sound level 0 so I can mute it that way if need be. And I have the same sounds preset with different sound levels on it.

Post up pics of your first place finish

FoxPro callers are just the same as all other electric devices. Since 1999 I've had Johnny Stewart, Loud Mouth, WT, and Fox pro. I've had issues with everyone of them. Loudmouth was the worst I'm almost sure there completly out of business. I guess I chalk it up to fact that these callers are electronic devices that we run in cold weather, heat, and moisture. My Ipod has crapped out once and its never exposed to any of these condtions.
It sucks when it happens but like someone said thats why its important to know how to mouth call to.

I broke down and ordered a FX3 yesterday for the same contest. I hope it works as it should, they're not cheap! Good luck to you 12 ring!

Thanks NMRANCHER. And same to you. I'm sure it is gonna be a huge turn out, as it was last year. I think there were like 125 teams or so. First place is 2 DPMS AR's. Not that I will win them but what a goal to shoot for.
