Getting rid of Ticks

I was putting my hunting gear away and noticed a tick fell off of my chest pack. I shook it and looked it over and found 6 more. Then I started looking at the rest of my stuff and found a few more. I have not found any on my body but my gear is infested. I keep all of my stuff in a plastic tote and I have to assume they are throughout all my stuff. What do I need to do to guarantee they are all dead? Most of my stuff is First Lite wool so I can't use hot water or high heat dry.

I treat all my stuff with permethrin that lasts for weeks after it dries.
Have seen friends get ticks right next to me when they didn't use any.

Do any stores carry it or is this a online purchase? If I put it on my clothes will it kill the ticks that are on there now?

Yes it will kill the ticks on contact and they will fall off.
Available online or at Sportsman warehouse, Cabelas, Bimart, Walmart. I have purchased at these places and sure there are others.

Not really Deet will work only for a short time and mostly on 'Skeeters.
It is intended to go on skin and block the O2 sent off your body.

I use deet sometimes as a backup to permethrin and it helps block many things, even ants. One problem with deet is it smells strong and gets on my gear, calls, gun, scope, and others.
If there are many mosquitos it is very effective by confusing them.

You should be able to find concentrated permethrin at any farm supply store. Locally for me, Runnings, Fleet Farm, maybe Tracker Supply others also I am sure.

If you buy the concentrate you are going to want to dilute it in water and spray it on, the bottle you buy will have different mixture ratios for intended use.

Thanks guys. I will get some permethrin for future hunts. After looking in my gear box I found 3more this am so I tossed my gear in the dryer for 35 min. It seems to do the trick as I found some dead ones when I pulled my clothes out. Didn't seem to shrink the wool, maybe because I put it in there dry. I will get everything washed up and treat with permethrin now. How does it smell? I know I am wasting my energy according to some but I am kinda obsessive about scent control and I keep my stuff I. A airtight storage container and always do my best to keep my stuff smelling like natural outdoors by putting she brush... in my tote. Does this stuff have a odor? I don't want ticks so either way I'm gonna use it.

Permethrin is colorless and oderless, It is the WMD nerve agent of the bug world.
I think it is a synthetic version of a derivative from chrysanthemums.

Spraying and allowing to dry will last about 6 weeks or 6 washing, if you store in a black plastic bag. Insect shield will custom treat clothing and is said to last 70 washes. For treating outer clothes I would buy concentrate and dilute to .5% and the soak the items and dry this will ensure a kill on ticks that may get inside a pant cuff or sleeve. Don't forget to treat your footwear.

Today I picked up a bottle of Sawyers brand permethrin at a local Bass Pro. The nearby Cabelas didn't have it.
