Gun lights and mounts from Dealextreme

So you want to stay with Cree LED's.

FYI-

The 240LM Brinyte is the same brightness (both use Cree LED)as the Kill Light 250.

The Brinyte has twice the size halo (what I like best for scanning) and the Kill Light light has a hot spot that is brighter in the center with half the size halo, but with the hot spot it's more concentrated in the center.

TXCOONDOG....Is this the light you're talking about, it's rated at 180 Lumens in the specs, or is there a different light that we're missing. Could you post the link if there is.

I personaly don't put a lot of stock in the lumen claims. It's a useless measurement for a hunting light. Lumens measure the overall brightness, LUX is a measurment of that focused light beam. I just ordered the one in the link and plan on replacing the OP reflector with the smooth reflector from my G4.

Lux or Lumens doesn’t matter because most exaggerate the output and it depends on the meter you use and at what distance as well.

I thought it might have been the green. I agree that lumens are exagerated but don't think I've ever seen a lux measurement given.

Lumens is a measure of light flux, so is independent of the area. It is essentially the amount of light available. So think of a bright light. It has a fixed amount of lumens, regardless of how near or far you are.

Lux is the light level at a surface. If you think of a light bulb, the lux will vary with the distance from the light source because the light spreads out.

Focusing the available lumens on a given area is what is needed for a hunting light. This is the lux measurement.

Looking forward to your review.

Still a toss up between Green and Red. I favor the red, but that is what I've been using for a while which I have called predators (fox, yote and bobcats)3 out 7 times within 35 yds or closer at night.

The green seems to mess with my night vision a little (see spots when I first turn off or looking a different direction), but the sight picture seems clearer via my scope.

I've been field testing it (open field), but haven't done much calling with it yet so I can't say if the predators will be spooked by the green.

In short, I need to spend a season (3-4 months) using green before I can give a definitive answer for sure or at least my opinion.

I have been watching all this talk about lights. I am wondering if you really save any money over the Kill Lights once you add the batteries, the pressure switch and the mounts. I have dealt with Jeremiah and the service is top notch. It seems as though everyone is trying to out do his lights and trying to prove other lights are better.Just my 2cents. I know everyone will jump on my statements.

Jeremiah is a great guy that works his tail off trying to help everyone and my posts aren't towards him in anyway and he deserves a shot first!!!

Let me clear up something:

I think if you go back and read my posts, I talk about how I love the Kill Light which comes from Elusive Wildlife Technologies and I also talk about customer service from US companies and that you (anyone) may not get the same service from overseas.

A person would have to research whether or not which way is cheaper, but again you may not get the CS that we "Americans" are spoiled too. However, For the Brinyte light (aluminum housing/Cree LED) and two 18650 batteries 2500 mAh to my door was $35, and a bare Kill Light 250 cost around $99 with no batteries. Did I mention that an American mail lady from the USPO delivered my light too?

I also spend 98% of my money with other PM sponsors and/or American companies to help support my countrymen (thought I would cover this before someone says something about supporting American's or Sponsor's), but I also have a family to feed and need to save every now and then.

Either way, I don’t see any good coming from this thread so I’m done with it.

I only spent $42 total I'm not doubting the kill light is the way to go but I hunt on a small budget if I had the money I would have already had the Kill Light everything I hunt with is thrown together by me to save a couple bucks and still be able to hunt I built my own E-caller, I learned how to howl and do some distress sounds with a turkey diaphragm, and I buy white lights, add stage light gels, and I build my own mounts for my lights. so actually the mount and the switch I purchased is splurging for me.

Has anyone ordered a pressure pad for a cree light and what endcap fits what light?

I need a red or green light that reaches 50 yards, pressure pad is a must. Thanks

the set-up I ordered is basically what your looking for with the exception of the green or red light but all I do is add a stage light gel filter for what ever color I want can't add a review yet until it comes in which probly want be until the end of this month but if your not to concerned about the price the kill light is the way to go

I use filters on my rifle lights but any of the cheap colored LED would work great for 50 yards, I wouldn't mess with the filters.

Thanks for the help. I just got the xlr 100 from boondock outdoors in the mail today and it is great. Shines out to 100 yards easy, perfect for me.

I am trying to set up a light for my father-in-law who just wants a red light w/ pressure pad to mess around with. The links above look like a good set up. I will look for a single mode light but am in the right direction. Thanks again

Can't go wrong with the Kill Lights and great CS after the purchase from Boondock.

If I hadn't had such good luck with these cheaper lights I'm sure I'd have one of his lights. Everyone saves a little $$ where they can I just choose to do it with my lights.

It looks like it should. I have the G4 with a pressure switch and that tail cap looks the same as the Brinyte. I'm expecting the Brinyte any day now and I'll let you know for sure once I have it.

The light is pretty bright but not as bright as I'm looking for comparing it to my other lights it should be good out to 100 yds or better gonna upgrade to another light they carry and probly put this one on my shotgun and also I don't really like the pressure switch if u dont hit it just right the light is a little jumpy gonna go with the on/off switch on my next light, and if you have a scope with a tall dial you will need a taller mount than the one I ordered I ended up mounting mine under the barrel and it lines up perfect in the scope other than that I am very satisfied with my order. haven't taken any pics or used it hunting yet but will repost as soon as I do.

No it doesn't fit, hope I didn't mess you up. It came today and although the Brinyte looks identical to the G4 it's actually quite a bit smaller.
