Heading out tonight

Going after bunnies, the snowshoe kind.

We will be using a 22lr bolt suppressed with subsonic ammo. I have a spot where I've taken a couple during the day. I'm hopeful they will be out in force at night. We just want a couple to practice some tanning and then using the fur for something like mittens. Should be a beautiful night. It's warm right now in Montana.

That would be a challenging hunt. Iv killed a few cottontails with a 9mm Glock but I like to be at least 20yds max. Can be hard spotting them in cover before they flush

They lied about the wind. It was dead calm so I didn't go. I'm learning that I need that steady breeze otherwise I can't get within that 50 to 60 yard range.

Hunt smart, not hard 😁

Wind was right tonight and so was the darkness. We finally got a snowshoe hair with a 22lr subsonic. Man that's fun. My son in law was on the gun tonight.

I’m not sure but I think that’s a jack rabbit, snowshoe rabbits are bigger and bright white and usually up in the mountains in deep snow. I see jacks quite a bit at night while after coyotes in the sage brush areas. They get white but not as white as snowshoes.

it's interesting you say that. We keep going back and forth on this because jack rabbits (which is also a hare) appear to have freakishly large ears. And Jack rabbits are usually larger, up to 10 pounds. But I've seen pics of jack rabbits with smaller ears and bodies. We have jack rabbits and snowshoes here.
