I live close to Greybull Wy. Bighorn County has a very sucessful predator control program. Lots of airplane gunning and a caller behind every bush. Its very tough hunting.I think there is way more pressure than wyo yote thinks.Dogs are very hard to come by.
Hmm, I must be in some geographical oddysey, where ever I'm at, other callers must vanish through a time warp. What's amazing is that they don't even leave a footprint in the snow! Maybe there is more pressure along the roadsides then I realize, but if you're willing to hoof it away from the vehicle 1/4 or more miles, you'll see some amazing country that doesn't get lit up alot. You might even get lucky and call in a yote.
I will say this, these desert dogs up here aren't pushovers. You can walk into some very promising country full of sign and never get a response. Likewise, you can also try a new spot that might not look so promising and have one running to you in a few minutes. You still have to be on top of your game.
My initial post was not an alert for all hunters across the U.S. to hunt here, as it might be just as good in Idaho, Utah, Texas, etc. I can see where this would disturb some of the locals. My goal was to meet some fellow Wyo. guys, share some hunts/stories, have another set of eyeblls out there.
