here is the story. I just got off the on ramp from dimond to minnesota. I was probably up to 45 to 50 mph. the moose just jumped on the road. I just remeber seing its forelegs in the lights and a outline. Boom! it flies up lands on the hood and rests on the windshield I hit the brakes it slid off onto minnesota. It was laying their doing its last gasps for air when a brand new avalanche hit it again while it was laying there. The avalanche did a 180 while it was high centered on the moose and skidding down the highway and was almost broadsided by a car. Well a couple minutes later I see the calf that was with it go across the road, got to the on ramp from minnisota to dimond, I watched a wrangler (I think) put its brakes on but Then I hear a thud. It whacked the calf. I was standing there in disbelief. Sh!t happened fast and in large quantities. Ill post pics of the blazer tommorow hopefully. I think you guys will be suprised with the amount of damage. So anyway, I wasnt speeding or not paying attension. It was dark, rainy and black objects against a black background dont show up well. Plus With the amount of traffic that moose mustve jumped right in front of me. I have had probably 3 close calls also in addition to this confirmed kill on minnisota this year as far as moose are concerned. I saw 3 nice bulls in the area as well this summer for quite awhile. Time for a bow season I think. Anyway my 86 k5 blazer is pretty bashed up. front clip, radiator hood and windshield are a total loss.(glad I wasnt in the ford focus, Id probably be in the hospital.) I havnt seen the any other damage cause the police had it hauled off and I just went to work. Ill see it tommorow. anyway, these stupid things will catch you by suprise!
