How do you guy's get your foxpro off the ground for better range?

Mr. Poppadopalis, we hain't got nern of them thar yucca plants here. We do get some hard frozen ground though that makes any device that has to be driven into the ground hard to handle.

A rock, bush, tree, gopher mound, frozen cow patty. I almost always hunt with elevation to my advantage, so remote range is seldom an issue. Are you concerns with antenna remote range or better sound range?

I bought a mono pod from Walmart for less than $20. I unscrewed the rubber piece to set your gun in. The threads are the same threads in any tripod. It fits my shockwave perfectly. You can also adjust it to any height in a bush, tree or on a fence post. I'll post a pic of it. I use it most of the time but when something better presents itself I'll use that instead.

Here's the pic. It is made of aluminum and is way light and inexpensive. You can stick it into soft ground or carry a bungee cord and put it in a bush and bungee all the brush around it for support

I wrapped the hook with vet tape so it didn't clang when you hang the caller on it. Works great unless the ground is super frozen. Then I stab it in a yucca. You can also hang it off a fence wire so it's pretty versatile. used 5/16 rod from the farm store.

Man, that's pretty slick!!

No...LOL. He hasn't had it out yet. He originally built it for coons because he had a few come in fast and actually roll the caller, and get out of there without him getting a shot. I'm anxious to see how it works. I'm sure it will work for coons because most of the time they come in like they want to eat the caller.

I often use a small (fits in a pocket) tripod with flexible legs. It doesn't get the call really high off the ground but does raise it a few inches. I also use it to hang the call from limbs as the legs are flexible enough to wrap around a smaller tree limb. These are designed for cameras and should be available in any good camera shop. That's where I got mine.

My call (FoxPro Crossfire) has a female threaded anchor point in the base which is the same size as most camera mounts.

I use a cheap tripod with my Shockwave when needed but most of the time it sits on top of a piece of sagebrush etc.

Most of the fox pros have a place in the bottom to thread a tripod too. If yours doesn't have it try gorilla glue?

The mono pod I posted a pic of earlier has the standard threads That fits on most anything. It is thin and light. You don't attatch it to your caller until you get I to the field and get ready to set up. It fits into your pack and takes up minimal room. There have been several members say that you should use a post, tree, sage brush, rock or whatever. I agree totally with that. If that's the best senerio, if there is always a perfect item that just happens to be in the perfect location to set your caller on to gain elivation that would be awesome. You don't need to buy or carry anything extra. I would prefer a tree with the perfect limb in the perfect place and if that's available I for sure use it. But in my experience that doesn't happen all the time. Less than $20 at Walmart gives you a great alternative for every set up.
Good luck and happy hunting

Walmart currently has a single stick gun rest for $10. If you attach a metal stake to bottom it'll allow you to insert it into harder ground. The top of the shooting stick includes a V-shaped rest where you would place the barrel of gun, however if you have a smaller sized E-caller with a carrying handle you can place it onto and then use the strap to tighten the caller. Setup should be fairly light weight.

You are correct the Walmart mono pod is less than $20 at $10 (I'd forgotten) I've bought a couple over the past two years. They finally get beat up enough you have to spring for a new one.
As far as the v shaped gun rest on top, just unscrew it if your caller has threads or as up-north 18 says use the gun rest to fasten your call to. As far as attacthing a metal stake (for hard ground) I carry a screwdriver and push it into the ground to make a hole. Just a note be sure when you insert the whimppy aluminum bottom extendable leg into the hole you made with the screwdriver make sure it is retracted enough so the next size beefier section is against the ground. It sometime bends the bottom leg

Stick it with JB weld and build up around the nut for more strength, as well. Just be sure you don't let stud bottom out &"push" the nut off. You can put a double nut on stud to limit length of exposed threads.
