How many use the lead sled???

I use the original lead sled quite a bit for developing loads. Its nice for the hard kickers.

I've never had a problem splitting any stocks. I shot a 300 RUM with an LSS stock, plus that rifle was later rebarreled to 338 EDGE shooting 300g SMKS's, the stock has not split whatsoever. I dont know where people keep hearing that from...

That's a Bald Eagle Front rest and one of their rear bags. I have pieces of wood underneath the rear bag because our 50 yard targets are down a slope, and I need the rear bag high to accommodate. I'm shooting a 22 Target rifle that day.

Never say never. Try sighting in a 12ga slug gun. Say that after 20 or so rounds. I have a lead sled, a Lahti rifle rest, and a Ransom rest. Use them all regularly.

Wow and I would need one for those notoriously hard kickers like .17 HMR, .223 and such ??? You're kidding right.

I have never even considered one. Just something to lug around along with all the other crap I haul out to the range.

+1

I split a Weatherby in 300 and a 458 Win.

Now I use muzzle breaks, my only rifles that do not have a break on them is a 25/06 and a 270, and I know that I could shoot them better if they had a break on them.

I don't understand. Your statement doesn't make sense. It's just a gun rest to help sight in. Doesn't matter if it's a bb gun or elephant rifle. How far is the parking lot from the shooting range? Maybe you need a new range if it's that far of a hike. Don't bash something just because you don't have it.

I use one I got from Cabelas, its offset for an AR but also works fine with a regualr rifle. It is made by Inventive Technologies in Utah. It works great and isn't real expensive.

I bought one last year and absolutely love it. I don't typically use it for the lighter stuff (it's not as comfortable as bags). However, when I can shoot 3" 12 gauge slugs in it and it feels like my 22-250, I think it's well worth the $200 I paid for it.

To each there own. Better to have to many options for products than to few.

One of the biggest problems I witness shooting with others in the field is lack of practice shooting....basically poor shooting skills. Mounting a rifle in a holding device that eliminates all human contact hardly promotes good shooting skills. If it is required to tame the recoil of such bad boy rounds as the mighty .223 and other notables that include the awe inspiring .17 HMR...whats next remote control hunting ? Man up... the .223 can be shot hundreds of times in a day with no ill effects. You can actually sight one in, do load development, knock off a few hundred pds and still not be hurt. All in one day.........

Question, If I was to sight in my 223 with 100 pounds of lead on the lead sled, will POI change? cause theres no way my shoulder could put up 100 pounds of resistance.

If you reread (assuming you read it the first time...I didn't bash anything) I questioned the need for one when shooting those very light kicking rifles. What does it do for ya ?

Ask any member who has ever shot with me. My rifle range is tens of thousands of acres.....literally. We often shoot a few hundred rounds in a good day.

I got one as a gift. I really like it. The front rest is better then anything I have right now and I can adjust to any forearm I have as far as side to side. I have also taken off the rear stock holder and will slide the front rest back and use a rear bag. I like it!!

I have not noticed a POI shift in anything other than those weapons where the bullet has a long residence time. Slug guns seem to be pretty bad.

A little off topic. My wife bought me the RCBS R.A.S.S. bench for my B-day. I am 6'4", and I have a heck of a time with the bench at the local range. It just doesn't fit me. The RCBS bench fits me great, and my kids, and my wife, and everyone else that is 4 feet tall or taller. My younger 2 have to stand on the legs to be tall enough but they still put lead on target. If you think the Lead Sled is too heavy then you don't want on of these benches. I think it is around 65 pounds or something. We have a couple thousand Acres we play on and I found a big tote that I strap to my 4 wheeler that carries it to any of the places we shoot with no problems. It sets up quick and is comfortable to use. Breaks down in just a few minutes and we are on our way. All that said I still keep my shooting sticks close and have a bi-pod on the AR as well. I like to keep my options open I guess.

Sorry for the hi-jack, but I thought some might find it relevant.
