Very little public ground here, most of it small, under 200 acres. Some get bird hunted almost daily it seems mid Oct to new years so 0 to several times. A good private spot I may call 2-3 times if I kill. Marginal property where coyote spend less time, could be totally dependent on weather/snow conditions. Property where I have had a bait out and I see sign of coyote traveling several miles, I have actually called 5-10 times(coyote vocals) at night. Sometimes it's an hour from last howl until one or more show up. I don't think survivors( shoot one the others scatter) of these hour + from calling to shooting connect the calling and shooting as danger. Like when caller is running and shots are fired.
Often I have shot one and had the other(s) run a few hundred yards and than started calling to the missing one (or trying to rally the group?). Those I think are very susceptible to calling the next night( or even in 15-20 minutes), especially during the pair bonding and during breeding season. So many factors/ conditions play parts in this, wind, time of night, moon phrase. Suppressor equipment/caliber of rifle. Snow depth. During the day just a completely different game.
