how to answer all questions about night hunting flashlights

from searching this forum as well as others it appears that a lot of folks ask which light to use for night hunting. What would be great is if the vendors who sell lights or those that get the chinal copy off ebay could post real world pictures of the lights they sell taken at night with objects at 50,100,200 etc.. You can find this for some but i myself like the looks of the knoxx red dagger and others that vendors sell on here but just reading descriptions and actual pics would help a lot of folks. If i sold flashlights and claimed i had the best or you could take shots out to 200 yards etc. then some pictures to back it up, i think i could sell a bunch of lights. Just my thoughts. With all the hunting pressure around here right now from what i have seen it looks like it would be best to go into the really thick stuff to try and get a coyote so that is why i liked the Knoxx red dagger. Mounted on a shotgun, less than 100 yards shots with the easy focus makes it seem like a great light for that. Just my thoughts. The local gun store here just got in one of the laser genetics n5 subzero units and i would guess his building has a storage area underneath that is long enough for a 75 yard bow range and he lets folks take the laser genetics down and turn the lights off and see what they think. I talked to him yesterday and said that has helped him sell over a dozen of the units in the last few weeks.

manofsteel,
Pics of objects at distance would be worthless unless all taken with the same camera on the same exact night. I have never seen a camera that will pic up red light and show it the way a human sees it. It would be a great idea in theory, but will not work.. Pics can also be doctored just as easily as yardage claims can be.

I personally have alot of different lights at my retail store and allot people to test them too..

PS: Joe, thats a nice hall!!

Eli,
I love the wicked lights. Great light ,by a great company. I feel the w400 has the best fit, finnish and performance in its price class.

+1

Thanks Jeremiah, having a good hunting partner and prime land to hunt definitely helps!

Here's a post I did a few years back it's easy to measure and compare the various lights out there. These are what I had at the time.

The problem lies in obtaining all the lights you'd like to compare. Jeremiah sells many lights but picking a clear winner would do nothing to help his business and cause problems with his vendors. Like any business man he stays neutral and satisfies all customers. All the lights work well and you're really splitting hairs with the vast majority of these lights. It really boils down to price and what you're happy with.

pmack,

Not entirely true. I will pick a clear winner, that would be CoyoteLight as no-one can even come close to touching it at this current time. Also I will give complete and true answers to all questions asked about any light I have experience with.

pmack,

Since last season I have recently upgraded my gun light reflector housings and LED's. Send me a pm if you would be willing to add these numbers to your testing.

Thanks
Joe

manofsteel,

I'm not understanding what you are saying. Feel free to send me a pm or you can call me at (814) 364-9660.

Thanks

i thought from your original post it was shots of different lights at night. it may be bacause i am looking at it at lunch at work but no pictures show up. Only a link to photobucket.
will look again later tonight when i get home

When I responded to your original post I misunderstood your thread and thought you were looking for kills under the lights. My mistake.

Without question the CoyoteLight is clear winner but at what price?

Coyote light 36000 lux or 1 lux at 189 meters $429

Nighteyes light 10000 lux or 1 lux at 100 meters $109

Coyotelight is 4 times the money yet barely twice the performance. I'm not nocking or praising either light just giving facts. They all work it's what your willing to pay for vs the performance you need.

Joe, I haven't kept up with that thread, I just resurrect it every once in a while when questions come up. It's more a reality check for the guys who think shining flashlights against a wall is the best way to compare lights.
