Icotec Power mod

Every once in a while I run my batteries too low in my outlaw, and when that happens it sounds like the speaker is blown. So to help with being able to power the unit, I added a universal external power plug.
I decided to add a barrel power connector so I can connect a 12v power/battery pack to it. I went with the standard 5.5x2.1mm and that has a weather proof gasket/plug.
I opened the unit up, found a good spot to put it, drilled the hole, and tightened the nut. Went ahead and spliced into the “battery” wires that connect to the unit. Put it all back together and it works of the 12v battery pack. The outlaw can handle anywhere from 8.5-17v provided it has enough amps to power the amplifier.

Mine came with the normal AA battery pack, I thought it would be nice to be able to power the unit externally. I don't believe either one of them come with a lithium pack, just the normal AA pack.

You are correct…I bought the C4 battery pack. That thing last for days without a recharge. In fact, I recharge it about once a month based on normal use. I’ve had it over a year now and changed the remote batteries once and that’s only because I left it on. Going on about 6 months with the remote batteries. I may go ahead and order another C4 battery pack for a just incase scenario.

As my caller is out of warranty I modified mine to take 4x 21700 batteries, ran in series. So my battery life is very long. This option (external power) is just incase my batteries are too low, or I want to preserve them. We use some SPYPOINT solars panels for our camera. I wanted the option to make it where we could power the unit off of those, or a power pack.
