If money was not a concern, which rifle would you choose?

Maybe you could say if Gander Mountain peddles it, it qualifies under your criteria. That should keep out the "gray area guns"....

That might work. Im still trying to figure out why so many people still havent chosen the worlds best rifle the 700? The military uses it, it has to be the best right? I mean the the military would never choose a platform based on cost. Nothing but the best for our troops.

LOL..!! You're trying to hard.

Bottom Line: You are probably the only one here who has or will lose sleep over the out-come of your little poll here. To anyone else it really doesn't matter.

The only thing that does matter to some folks is when someone has such a strong personal agenda - for whatever reason - that facts get trampled. More of that IMO "thingy"...

And for the record, arms aren't procured solely based on cost. Other things definitely are considered in arms trials. If cost was the deciding criteria, our snipers would all be shooting Sevens 200 rifles with Krylon camo finishes...

You mean rifles based on Stevens actions. The army/marines use rifles based on Remington actions, they were smart enough to dump the rest of the junk attached to it. Im sure if the factory parts were of the upmost quality they would be replacing those parts.

What I think is that I've owned over 200 guns and have come to form my opinions based on real world experience. Try it sometime.......

I only did this poll because I was told that Remington rifles were the best avaialable and regardless of cost people would still choose them.

Still havent found the perfect one huh? You should expand your horizons beyond Remington, might find one you want to keep.

Plenty of them. I have 2 friends that are cops. Both departments own some of these rifles. I also had a list from a friends LE magazine as to what rifles the different departments across the nation were using. Remington was named far more than any other.........

Im sure all those Remingtons were out of the box with no gunsmithing either. What departments do your friends work for if you dont mind me asking?

Don't forget to add that you knew before hand what the outcome likely would be here on PM. There was no question on that issue by anyone here. That's what might be called a personal agenda in most places.

You remind me of Al gore. He only wanted votes recounted in Florid counties where he knew he had already won by a significant margin.

Just don't bend facts to make your point like you have been doing. That's the sign of someone who has an agenda but not much knowledge...

For example, there are a lot of custom Remington smiths around because they choose to build custom rifles using Remington actions over others. It has nothing to do with your uninformed assertion that they exist because all Remingtons need to be worked on before they will shoot.

If i di have anidea of the outcome I wouldnt have bothered with the question, smart guy. So are you inferring that people on this site dont represent the masses? I figured they were a good mixture of practical shooter and hunter with experiences leverls from novice to expert. Which group should I be polling to get an accurate count?

Exactly, I give more credit to the people on here when it comes to being informed. Perhaps you woill get the right repsonses if we were to ask the same question on lets say a Golfing forum? Uninformed people buy into names all the time, I figured we would hear the voices of true hunters and shooters. Apparently you and your buddies dont think much of the people here.

Maybe a group that doesn't have "budget rifle mania" as 2MG mentioned several days ago that this forum is known for... Anyone who has been here for a little bit of time has seen that. However, simple sales records show that it's not the "norm" for the sport...

I would love to provide a complete listing of all the different makes of rifles I own and shoot. But you probably wouldn't believe it because you likely couldn't comprehend the list.....

Don't start name calling, my friend; things like "smart guy". That's not nice even when you're pushing your own agenda... It maybe works at Obama rallies, but not here...

Try to stick with facts and not slanted opinions passed off as facts and you won't hear from me... Things like your quote below are silly....

The reason there are a lot of Remington smiths around is that many prefer to use Remington actions as a basis for a custom rifle.

PS: You're starting to type faster than you can apparently think... Words are starting to get ran together and misspelled like in the quote above...... Whats' up with that?

Based on a couple of recent E-mails I've received on this topic, some folks feel that same way about you... They're not impressed with your attempt...

A name sells things far faster than the actual product. Sales are the same as a popularity contest. Obama was the most popular 2 years ago, Im sure he's the best to.

Its not "budget rifle mania" it "well informed shopper mania" Many people dont see tha value in buying a Remington 700 for 500.00, and dumping an addtional 500.00 into it just to have a rifle that shoots .10 better groups over a rifle that costs lees than half.

At least you can admit that the Remington action is where its at, not the rifle as a whole.

Im sure. Kudos to them for having the courage to speak their mind in public.

No, I just failed to see what relevancy "what department" had to do with it. More LE agencies choose Remmy than any other brand. That goes for shotguns also. You can keep living in your little fantasy world, but it is a fact. The 5R mil spec models will shoot, yes right out of the box, with any rifle on the market.........
