If you have 3k-4k to spend on AR what would you get?

I think they are really good guns but don't expect customer service out of HK.

Amen to that. I have an H-K hunting rifle I bought new. I sent them e-mails (H-K-usa.com) asking about spare parts availability and they won't even reply.
I've hunted with it for 30 years and never needed any service yet, but if I do, I bet I'm in for major headaches.
On the flip side, I could part it out for a lot more than I paid for it.

I just went through this, spurred on by Jason at the department of fish and game telling me I could legally hunt with a suppressor in Oregon! I cleaned out some of my rifles that I didn't use and consolidated into this:

It is a factory built Noveske N4 5.56 Stainless barrel 18" SPR with switchblock, Geiselle SSA trigger, Magpul UBR stock, Magpul MIAD grip, Magpul enhanced trigger guard. I ordered a Nightforce 2.5-10 NP-R2 reticle mounted in a Larue LT-104 QD mount. While I was at it I ordered a Accu-shot Atlas QD Bipod, and to top it all off I ordered up a Advanced Armament SPR/M4 suppressor! I can hardly wait for it all to start showing up at the end of the week. Granted, I'm going to have to wait on the suppressor on my form 4. I'm feeling like a kid the night before christmas! Also I found some "stubby" PMAGS at midwestpx.com that hold either 5 or 10 rounds, perfect for hunting.

If you want a nice AR, GET IT WHILE YOU CAN! If you want a high end AR that flat works, include Noveske in your research.

The 5, 10, 15 rd OEM PMAGS are coming out any day now. incase you dont want to spend the cash for the mod version.

Saw a link saying a spring/summer release i believe with the 40rd PMAG coming in the fall...the catalog has the price at least.

Only small issue with OEM version is that it isnt any shorter than the 20rd mag.

Send him a PM he'll get back to you pretty quick.

We can use suppressors here also, only on non game animals of course... I thought about that route.. the wait alone will kill me though.. would be nice on my wicked Predator .308.. and then NV added on top of that.. WOW one mean rig..

I know for a fact theres alot of out of the box AR's that you dont have to build up and get something good out of it. And plus spend 3k-4k on... Its all up to your tastes and your style and makes you happy, lol...

I've posted this before, but here is the kind of reaction I got last year with a .243WSSM with a YHM .308 Suppressor. PLEASE IGNORE THE CAMERA MAN, we didn't have the tripod on this trip.
DISCLAIMER: results aren't typical, deer do goofy things during the rut, however, the critters usually hear the sound, and either dont associate it with a gun shot, or hear it and dont know where it came from.

with $4000 id buy a Tactilite or Bohica .338 AR upper and a YHM Phantom .338 (and have to sell a kidney for optics)

Bohica

One more reason to love South Dakota. Suppressors are A-OK on all the critters. Hows this for a Coyote Killing Macine

my set up is running an Accuracy Systems .243WSSM UPPER

CLICK THE PIC TO SEE IT LARGER
it still shoots sub 1/2moa out to 400m with 75gr Vmax

Accuracy Systems upper
.243WSSM 24" x .936 (at the muzzle) 1:9 twist
DPMS lower/parts kit.
Bill Springfield 3# trigger work
extended take down pins
Badger Latch
Gas Buster Handle (at home mod)
Mark IV Extra High 30mm Rings
Barska Swat 10-40x50 IR
Oly Arms 12.5 FIRSH
Daniel Defense QD Push Button Sling Mount
YHM 7.62 QD Phantom
CAA SRS Stock w/ pod
[beeep] Buffer Spring (thinking of the OlyArms Pneumatic buffer)
Ergo Tactical Deluxe w/ Palm shelf and 2 slot rail covers
Harris 6-9 Swivel w/ leg notches
custom modified WSSM PMAGs

accuracy is what they specialize in, FOR SURE.

HOWEVER, I did have a couple beginner reloading issues, as well as some suspect brass scratches that I did get taken care of once i realized what the problem was.

The only thing to ever say bad about this set up, has been due to user ignorance. I'd recommend them ANY DAY, but Dtech can do everything they do, with better Customer Service. (not sure how far backed up Accuracy Systems are, but they are always worth researching)

Accuracy Systems are good enough at what they do that they have sub-MOA guarantees on their Mini-14 mods, so I'd expect they could build an AR that would absolutly drive tacks.

If you went over to Perfectunion BBS and asked, you would find some Mini owners that they did work for and get some more feedback (problems, customer service, etc.) I would think.

no offense by any means, Les builds are superb...but the .5 MOA Guarantee is old news.

LOTS of custom builders guarantee SUB .5 MOA

I need to go look, but one of the bigger name custom guys has a 3/8th MOA Guarantee.

my Accuracy Systems upper shoots SUB .5 MOA past 400m.

dtech upper 7mm wssm with integral comp, shilen slect match grade barrel, rra one piece mount, rra 1/2 rail handguard, a good trigger, prs stock, fully engraved with dtech listed on multiple areas, ergo or other handgrip, nikon buckmaster 6-18x40 sf nikoplex reticle. rra gas block front flip sight, flip up rear sight. That should be pretty close to 3000.
