Interesting Bullet Results...Share Your Experience

I like to use a 30 gr. H.p. in my 17 cals and a 52 gr. sierra in my 22-250 and a 52 gr. A-max in my 22-250 ackley, and shoot them as fast as possable..I have to admitt i have had a few spinners but not many, 1 or 2 a year...

Speed,
Not really familiar with the 6WOA specs. What kind of velocity can you expect with those 75s? Barrel length?

I've got some of those 75Vmaxs to try and 70gr BKs too. My little 16" 6x45 is a 12 twist so I'm told the < 70gr bullets are where it's at...

knockemdown! I haven't recieved my upper yet from Carey!
It looks like a lot of the fellows shooting this round are getting around 3200-3300 with H4895! at 28 to 29.5 with SSA small primer brass.

I can hardly wait to get it so I can start working up some of my own.

My WOA has a 22 incher on it! .875 under handgaurd .750-.740 at muzzle and fluted. Should make it a nice carry gun!

Oh yeah, 10 twist on this one!

My practical experience from last season. 4 dogs all shot w/ 55gr Vmax over 26gr of Varget from a 18" (1:8) RRA Varmint.

All 4 hit the dirt like a sack of taters. 2 of the 4 never moved again. Of the other two, one was hit probably 2-3 inches back of the "boiler room" and she tried to drag herself away (nasty gut exit). The other, after about 10seconds got up and ran 40yds then piled up. This was was a clean pass through (shot at approx 60yds), perfect bullet placement (2" behind shoulder).

My 2 cents I use the 50 gr v max out of my 22-250 doing 3800 fps and the results on yotes are no exits so far and all DRT..they also work great on woodchucks.

there are just so many variables, I was shooting the same combo at the same speed in my 22-250, got some splashes, runners, and soft ball exits, and if the dog needed more than one shot I just about cut one in half before with that combo.

I had similar experiences with the 50 gr Vmax. Big Big holes!!! I have tried a variety of bullets and weights and had some good and bad results. I used 55 gr NBT and had mixed good and bad results. I tried the Hornaday 55 SX bullets in my .223 with similar results. For about 2 years I shot only Sierra 52 gr BTHP match bullets. Once again they worked well most of the time but occasionally splashed or ripped ugly holes. For some reason they seemed to function better at higher veloctiy from my 22/250 than my .223. I tried 69 BTHP match bullets this year in my .223. Results were about like those of the 50 gr Vmax. Bigger and Bigger holes. Towards the end of the season I switched to 55 gr Sierra Game Kings and had good results with pass through shots that left a quarter size hole coming out which was easy to sew and seemed to put the coyotes down with authority. This next season I plan to try the 60 gr Vmax. I really try to save my coyotes since they pay top dollar for big pale coyotes here.

308..+..110gr V-Max = Dead coyotes. Don't matter if it's from my LR308 or my 300 Fireball, they just don't move much after things go bang.
