It's kind of funny about some of what their trying to past here.
I'm not sure about what year after the Columbine shooting the gun shows in Denver and Colorado Springs have required background check on all purchases of firearms even private sellers. I forget how much the fee is and I've purchased from private seller got background check never bother me.
We have guys in our gun club that are private sellers that have tables at the local shows here in the Springs buy and sell at those shows. Never seen anyone at those shows protesting required background check there on a private sell.
I think the Tanner shows rest of state require background checks.
I understand what the state is trying to do on background checks. Some of those shows be a line wait for background checks why did we agree to that now were suppose to protest what we've or some of us are have agree to do in the past.
your grammer, punctuation and spelling make it tough to decipher what you are saying, so if i got you wrong i am sorry.
it seems to me that you are suggesting that "universal background checks" are no big deal and that if no one cared about checks at gunshows, why should we care now?
first off, a "universal background check" would prohibit a father from giving his son or daughter their first 22 at the age of 12. it would prohibit a husband from giving his wife a self defense carry gun, or a wife from surprising a husband with a new back up gun for his trip to alaska.
but i see a far more dangerous part to our freedoms if this law passes. the new law would prohibit sales between ALL private parties without it going through a dealer or a check. how would the state know when the gun was sold, was it before or after the law went into effect? the only way the law could be effectively enforced is if they registered all guns so they could tell who had what when!
otherwise i could sell to someone a gun that i bought 20 years ago and we could both claim that i sold it to them in 2012, and no one could prove otherwise. also, say a friend flies in from out of state to hunt elk, and his rifle doesnt show up because of the airlines, it would be illegal for him to possess one of yours!
far too many unintended consequences from this law down the road. it is a dangerous time for our freedoms. EVERYONE who owns a gun or shoots someone elses gun should be writing and calling their state reps, and demanding that they vote no on all of these feel good laws!
There's nothing like using a lowercase letter to start a sentence that is meant to flame a guy for poor grammar!
