Kimber Montana vs Tikka T3 Lite

I would love to buy a Kimber Montana in 223 or 7-08 or such. But I have a few 223's now and too many deer rifles. Man it hurt saying that.

Pretty close to the suggestion. And a significant discount of the original price. It is certainly feasable. And since the OP was talking about the Montana, it is within those perameters. Just making suggestions...

Whats $100 when making a purchase of a quality firearm to last a lifetime? At the end of the day, if you can scrounge up $700, why not $800?

I do not know for certain. I may just be a Exclusive thing. All of the Steyr-Mannlicher rifles are on sale, discontinued it looks by the .88 price.

Good Job! Another pointless post, full of juvenile jests, with nothing relating to the question. Oh, and by the way, if you hold the 'shift' key when you type the first letter of the word of a sentence, it will capitalize it for you. Oh, and abot your sig line, it should be 'too late' not 'to.' But you missed that too.

Like I said, you missed the point. The rifle suggested was in close relative price to the request. And it is a steal of a deal for that price. There was more intrinsic value there than the rifle itself.

Have Fun. But please do reply, I wouldn't want to have the last word like you Stepfather.

Nope, but I did watch 3.5 seasons of "Breaking Bad" in the last week.

I am about to the point of selling off a few to better the collection.

I see your point about the Steyr. No argument it's a good deal, but the point of setting a price limit was to high light the fact that most hunters are on a set budget (usually set by the wife). Even if it's a $4000 custom rifle for $800...if you only have $700 in the bank, then it really doesn't matter how good the deal is.

That's one of the things I hate about gun shopping. There's always the whole "well for just a little bit more money..." The price creep really never ends.

That is always the issue. There can always be something just a bit better/different for just a bit more.

The thing I really like about the Steyr deal is this. For the $800, you get a $1200 rifle. But with a $700 priced rifle, you get just that...a $700 rifle...make sense?

For the $700 limit, I would look around for a good Rem 700 on sale ($450) and put it in a Bell and Carlson stock ($220) and a new spring for the trigger. I have still had good luck with the X-Mark Pro triggers after a new pull weight spring.

That and the Savage model 11 Prairie Dog is on sale at Cabela's currently. That would be a great way to go as well. Some tweaking of the trigger and you're a go. Unless, like me, you do not like the Accu-trigger.

The point is, there are still tons of options out there for the $700 price limit. I also like to scour used gun racks and sales fliers. Tons of options.

That or check some off of the Honey Do list and try to free up some more funds, I'm lucky I quess, because my wife doesn't regulate my spending. I also work part time at Cabela's, so finding killer deals is easy. I just buy her stuff every so often to keep her happy. MOF, we are going to pick up her new BowTech today...

But did you get to use it? I find buying the wife things that I might use a benefit. No use in having a truck that doesn't need to be pulled out of the mud every so often.

Oh to the OP buy the tikka and a truck with a gun rack. Then you won't feel so bad when the gun gets scuffs.
