Lee Perfect Powder Measure Question

I just purchased a lee "perfect powder measure" this weekend. It was a hard deal to turn down, $20 at the gun show. I got it set up this evening. The manual says to run one hopper of powder through it to get the static out and i suppose break it in so to speak. I did that and I'm still having some trouble getting all the powder to drop on every cycle. If I tap the side of it a few times all the powder will drop and it measures very accurately, within .1 grains so far. I was wondering if this is something I will have to do with this powder measure all the time, or if it will "break in" with time. Also I now have my reloading table set up over carpet, and I didnt know if the static electricity might affect it worse now. Thanks for the help.

Where were you when I sold mine for 5 bucks? Worthless. I load varget, h-335 and 8208 xbr. No where near accurate. However I am picky. I want it to be dead nuts and not off by .3 every other 3.265 rounds.

Using varget right now

That's exactly what I have to do with mine psdan, and make sure you do the same pull each time (like medium paces not to fast pace pulls) also I check my weight about every 10 rounds but I just upgraded to the Hornady Lock n Load auto charge, cuz I sure don't trust it or the Lee scale but it sure works if your just making plinkin' ammo or you check every round to make sure its the same correct weight each time...

I have 2 of these and they work better than most of the expenisve models ( I currently have a Redding, Forrester ,and a Lyman as well).I have used mine to load thousands of 223's with H335 which is a fine ball powder . I think I would check and make sure you have the hopper fully open.

My experience matches Ramjet's. If you get into a flow(this
helps all powder measures become more consistent), and tap the
drop tube a couple of times(only necessary on spherical or
flake powders), my Lee drops charges +/- .08 grains. My scale
measures accurately to +/- .02 grains so I can measure small
variances.

A number of years ago I was shopping around for a Harrell, and
talked to a number of competition hand loaders. A number
of them had the opinion that I should buy the Lee powder
measure, to save money, and spend said money on a better
scale. Better as in not one from the major reloading tool
vendors, but one from a company that makes scales. So
that is what I did. I purchased the Lee powder measure and
a Denver Instruments MXX-123 scale. These same shooters
suggested that my group sizes would drop across the board,
and they were correct.

I did buy a Redding trickler, and built a stand to put the
trickler over the pan on the DI scale, to round out my
"Perfect Powder" measuring system. YMMV.
