The picture with my 13 yr old son and the Jackrabbit (European Hare) pretty much covers what most of our area is like. Flat, open, and agricultural with lots of hedge rows.
There's the odd 15-30 acre wood lot but not many of them. I used to work for our Conservation authority back in the '80's and at that time our counties tree coverage was about 3-3.5%. He shot that Jack off the back hedgerow by the dark clump of trees over his left shoulder. 376yrds with his .243. We can get some very long shots at times. The sun set picture is one that he took out the backyard last fall. It's just couple fields over from the top picture.

Holy frozen mukluk Bob! That was quite a character building epic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
You have a wee bit more determination than I have. Great story!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Living where you are sounds like a guy could have a new adventure everyday. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Do You ever miss grid lock on the freeway? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Redfox:
Three of main reasons I'm here is traffic, taxes, and brown air.I lived all over the world before I settled here and if I wanted back to any of them I'd be there. I really don't know what old retired farts like me do in urban areas without a lot bail money.

Boy some of these pictures have a lot of green or white stuff in them. What the heck is that? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Here's a few shots from the desert.

I hope everyone else is enjoying this topic as much as I am. It's great to see where you guys hunt. Man, we certainly do have a lot of different terrain types represented here. We can talk about it all day long, but pictures of where we actually hunt just makes it right.

I appreciate everyone's response to this post, and I hope that others will continue to add pictures to this. We certainly have some great photos here.

We don't have to end either. This post can continue, so anyone who hasn't added your hunting places, then jump right in. It's really very interesting and nice to see.

Critr Gitr,

You like old pics? Heres one of my grandpas friends in the early 20s out side of Cody Wyoming.

Now that's a picture. It was also a different age, for sure. Must have been a wild place back then.

You know, something that amazes me when I look at those old pictures, is how small the people were then. There is a museum near here that has things from the past, and one thing that really stood out in my mind was the size of the bed - very short. People today are giants compared to people back then. But, those people were tough as pine knotts, much more than people today.

Thanks for that picture.

No truer words were ever spoken, and my grandpa fit that bill. He was the toughest, strongest man I have ever met.

I posted this picture one time before. It is my grandpa back in the 50's (or early 60's) in the north Texas Panhandle. He rode this cat down on horse back in open country. After the cat finally ran all it could, it stood its ground and he killed it with a club.

I don't think the cats were smaller either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Guys, go back up to the last photo UgashikBob posted. The one of the stream, anyone notice something unusual about that photo? Look closely.

OKay .... I give up, what are we looking for?

I see the river, I see the pattern in the sand, I can see it gets mighty cold up there, I see the low scrub .... But what should I be seeing?
