Leupold VX-3 CDS scope

I thought M1 turrets (and other tactical style turrets) could only be installed on 30mm tubes. Maybe that's what the tech was talking about.

Not true. Call for another tech and relay the info so Leupold can address it.

OK,,,, I went ahead and sent my scope to Leupold last week, so when I called in my CC info yesterday I asked the tech about the M1 turrets again even though I'd decided to go with a CDS.
Turns out the first guy I talked to was "sorta" right like DD suggested. He told me that originally the "tactical" (man I hate using that word;) M1, M2, M3, etc turrets would only work on their "tactical" (30mm) scopes, but due to customer requests they redesigned an M1 that will indeed work on the VX series of scopes. Still can't put an M2, M3 or any of the other "tactical" turrets on one, but the M1, Target, or CDS are GTG on all VX scopes. Not sure about the Vari-X series though cause I didn't ask.
Clear as mud?

Can I ask what it cost to have them install the CDS?

I've been looking at it but I don't want the duplex reticle. I have no idea why Leupold wouldn't offer something like the Burris C4 reticle on there CDS.

90.00 for the regular 1/4 minute turret + 60.00 if you want a custom dial.
I don't want/need the custom dial. Just wanted a low profile elevation turret.

Curious why you'd want to dial elevation if you're using hold over reticule.

Gottcha,,, I'm not familiar with Burris.

That makes sense though (not that I can read wind any better than I can judge distance

That's good info, thanks for following up on here.

Nothing new for Leupold owners but my scope with the new CDS turret showed up a little while ago.
I gave em my CC info Mon and received it today (Fri).
Course I live in ID so it didn't have to travel very far but still.......

Funny...I got mine a CDS VX3 4.5X14 x40mm in 30mm tube on Thursday! Ordered the Dial Friday and they said it will ship in 2 weeks!

Dancing from one foot to the other to get it mounted and shot.

Yea,,, they told me two weeks too. Probably means up to two weeks depending on their current work load.
Or maybe the gal just thought I sounded HOT and moved me to the front of the line.

Oh wait,,, that was a guy I talked to.

Never mind.

Remember, you were talking to Oregon.............

While I haven't used a CDS yet, I have friends in Spain who use them for long range hunting of Roe Bucks (450-650 meters) and they just love them.

Funny, that did cross my mind while I was typing. LOL

I ordered my CDS dials on Thursday last week (23rd of May) and they arrived today (28 May) in the mail.

All that over a holiday weekend. You can't beat that kind of service!

Good deal!
Haven't tried mine out yet but I like what I'm seeing so far.
I'll probably go to the range Fri and then we're off for a Marmot Safari next week.

This thread needs some pics!!

I like the low profile CDS knob with regular 1/4" clicks. I can dial out to 650 yards with one full revolution (15 moa) on my 17Rem.

No zero stop but maybe I'll add it. Anyone know how?

Inside the cap there is a hole for a ball bearing to fit. That's what it looks like anyway. Either that or it's a stud like a shotgun bead. When you order a dial to your specs they come with the ball bearing(zero stop )in place. I was gonna check with Leupold about getting a few,but never did. I'm sure they would just press in.

Might just have to call them....

Tim,

Do the CDS scopes come with that bearing off the shelf or only when you special order the CDS for your cartridge load?
