I've been seeing alot of pics with you guys wearing ghillie suits and was wondering where everyone was getting them.. I've looked at a couple sites but everything seems to have alot of green in it..

What's everyone using and where'd it come from??

Thanks

THE BEST RANCHO SAFARI Notice how i blend in. This was a desert color. Shot coyotes at 6 feet and they never knew i was there.

check out allpredatorcalls.com under camo, suits in woodland, grassland, and snow. i'm ordering mine in a week or so.

+1! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

That's where I got mine.

APC shipped it the next day. Great folks there.

Basspro has lefy wear 3D top and bottom for $50. Light weight and will fit over jeans and t-shirt. This is the way to go. Save yourself some money.

Ghillie suits are too heavy! Overkill, Once you see that the coyotes aren't shooting back at you.

AZ,

Mine goes over the clothes too. VERY lightweight.

Under $70.00...I get along with it. Mostly just wear the jacket though.

Not overkill if there's nothing to hide behind. We have lots of open flats.

SM,

I wear the pants to the ghillie if I'm not sitting down in the brush. Most of the time I have my jeans covered by the brush while calling.

What looks like a white collar is the underside of my lycra camo face mask...I'm careful to even wear gloves while calling.
A white hand exposed is nearly as bad as exposing your face.

I do like calling exposed areas with camo pants though, or the ghillie pants.

Thanks,

Barry

If your not to keen on the colors your seeing in production suits you can make your own. Nothing I seen quite suited me so I made mine out of an old pair of camo coveralls and some burlap(among other things). There are plenty of websites around dealing with the subject, I'll see if I can find any of them. It ended up being a little cheaper for me to and I got exactly what I wanted, albeit at the expense of ALOT of my time. I would think I had around 20 hours or better in the full suit I made, and about half that in a jacket I made of the same design.

I owned a Rancho Safari and can say they are exceptional quality but here in AZ it was too heavy and hot.

Ameristep makes a 3d camo poncho with a hood that is a bit lighter. I paid $70 somewhere on line.

What do you guys think of this suit? I was looking for one myself...

Those are horrible in my opinion. They are cheaply made and use a plastic base. The plastic base makes noise if you move around and it create a sauna effect inside the suit even if its cool outside.

Those are the types they sell at surplus stores. I picked up once once because I was being too lazy to make one.

The style I like has been posted above by Hyperwrx. Or you can make one which is what I think I will do. I currently wear a leafy suit in mossy oak brush I bought at Sportsmens. I like it because its a pull over top and bottom and in the hotter months I can wear shorts and a tshirt then slip over the leafy.

But it I was to make one I would make it like a mexican poncho. Buy some netting and then either store bought ghuilli material from surplus store or just burlap sack and other assorted materials. Cut a hole for the head and then string up the suit. I like the poncho style because like I see Rich Higgins do on stand you can roll it up like a small sleeping back tucked under your arm then just slap it over you once your on stand. Simplicity and the ability to stay cool in AZ. I like it and I think it will be the next little project for myself.

Good luck whatever way you go.

These are too hot! plus how can you see? These were made so humans with sniper scopes and rifles would not see you and shoot you. 3D wear is all you really need if that. Good camo with a bush behind you to help break up your outline is all you really need. Here is AZ it hot even right now, Light weight and comfy is important. (Just my 2cents)

you don't wanna buy that.. i have bought one for $150 and i have never wear it.. and i still have it.. hopefully in one day i have the time and take some pics of it and sale it.
It's heavy and is not confortable.. My opinion is don't buy it.

Thanks guys, I will take the advice and stay away from that style. I like the one hyperwrx has, just wish they had it in desert. I've only found it in green

Not to mention jute stinks and is highly flamable. I like the rancho safari predator light jacket in Jerryfaluge. No jute. enought light and dark colorst to work almost anywhere. Stops at the waist and has a hood.

I just bought the leafy wear at Wally World was 50 but they were blowing all of their camo out. jeans hats gloves corgo bags everything. got this for 40 buck. its a mesh so it will be great for the AZ weather. And I have it on right now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just to see how quiet it is, not like i'm going to sleep in it or anything /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Seems to be real quiet.
