Mars MT1000 Thermal Scope w/ LRF Review

I’ve just put together my first gear review on YouTube — it’s on the Mars MT1000 LRF by Oneleaf.

I bought this unit about 2 months ago with my own money after seeing a few other people talking about it on Youtube. I've taken it out for half a dozen hunts and am very happy with it's performance so far and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap thermal unit that has a tonne of features.


What I like:

• Very well priced for what you get — built-in LRF and ballistics calculator for around $2100 AUD (base model).
• Solid and well-made unit with good overall build quality.
• Interchangeable lenses make it easy to tailor the setup depending on your target species or hunting style.
• Great customer service — Oneleaf seems to actually listen to feedback and has been proactive in fixing issues.

What I don’t like:

• Too many colour palettes. If you skip the one you want, you have to cycle through all 12 to get back to it.
• The LRF on the side feels a bit awkward when carrying the rifle on a sling.
• No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth output, so a spotter can’t see what you’re doing.

I have had an issue where the recorded files can be watched on a computer but if I import them into Fincal Cut and try to edit a video there is some corruption and I can't export the edited video. No problem loading the file straight to Youtube, only when trying to edit. Not sure if this is a Oneleaf Problem or a Mac problem but it did reduce the amount of footage I could use in the review.


Final thoughts:
My Thermtec Hunt 335 Clip-On has been just as much a headache to use as it has been fun and I've had no end of frustration as it's struggled to hold zero when being changed between rifles. Having a dedicated thermal scope that holds zero has made a world of difference. I'll be selling the clip on and using this one exclusively.

If mine was lost, stolen, or damaged, I’d replace it in a heartbeat.

Very comprehensive clip indeed.

These units are a fantastic thermal in every respect and truely are a great buy.

I think this unit will refine the market and I'D HATE TO BE TRYING TO SELL A USED UNIT UP AGAINST THE MARS 1000 because they smash most older units and match the best of most other hi end new brand name models. Most monocurs with much lower specs can't match the performance feature or price than the Mars 1000 scope

I have owned a number of thermals both scopes, clip ons and hand held monoculars from Hikmicro [AGM] and Pixfra before adding the Oneleaf Mars 1000 thermal scope to my current collection of 4 units.

It has by far the best specs which accounts for it rediculasly great picture quality, the best rangefinder detection wise and overal performance.
It's now my go to rifle mounted thermal.

At their current price they offer by far the best value for money thermal on the market by thousands of dollars with all the best features and options as atandard equiptment with 3 lens sizes that are interchangable. 35mm 50mm and 70mm

I am yet to use the 70mm len but have heard and seen good things so far. I mainly use the 50mm which suits my high powerd rifles for the longer ranges keeping the 35mm for my rimfires.

Defiately worth looking in too.
