Mojo critter.....bad reviews??

Just bought a tripod at Walmart. If this doesn't work I blame Jeff.

So far so great. Awesome tip by you and Snowmanmo. I never would have come up with that sort of thing on my own.

On a side note, I finally got to a computer where I could watch the clip. That's a neat little video. A dog flying in from nowhere and leaving skid marks in the dirt. That's just awesome.

Nate, That coyote came in as hot as ive ever seen them come in. Jeff kept telling me how well the Mojo worked.. Let me tell ya, im a believer after hunting with him for a few days

I got the critters today.
They actually seem to be pretty solid and well built.

A few more questions:

How long are regular alkaline batteries good for?
I wonder if the lithium batteries would be worth the extra expense?
Do the batteries die all at once, or can you see it slowing down?
 
Duracells work for me on heavy hunting for more than a week.

I have not found the lithium batteries to be any advantage vs cost.

You can see the slowing on the action, so you can finish the stand, or even the day in some cases & put fresh batteries in.
 
Like Barry said the critter is a going son of a gun. Duracell would go broke if everything ran as long as these do. Even with temps below zero it was impressive.

The thing about the little Walmart tripods is they are a lot smaller than the big one pictured earlier in the thread. The little ones are only about 10" long when they are all retracted, but you can extend them up to about 36". Dont take much room in the pack.

Mine is always in the pack. Never know if I will need to put the decoy on the tripod to get it above the weeds/grass in the area.
 
taking the 5 minute epoxy out to the shop and glue it. i put it by my Fawn decoy when trying to call cougar for movement. going to start calling coyotes and bocat this week. think it will help with the trypod. Rick
 
I know this is an older post but. One time when I tried to put mine into frozen ground it actually cracked around the TOP.

Luckily I was able to find a fender washer just the right size to fit over the output shaft and it matched the OD of the MJ.

I've been using a small 6" tripod ever since when I'm out in the cold....even if I don't use the MJ then I put the caller up on the small tripod to get it off the ground and get more sound range.
 
I've never had any issues with it other than the stake being too short. So I cut three pieces of 1/4- 20 all thread and got some 1/4 - 20 rod coupling connectors to connect them depending on the height I want. The all thread lengths were 14 inches , because thats the longest length I can put into my day pack . It's light and quick to use. I also put some tan and green paint on the all thread to kill the glare.
 

How do cats respond to the Mojo?

Like a fat man responds to a buffet table.

In response to the original question, I've had the same one for a couple of years and the only problem I had was that the critter (the four strips of cloth) tore on me after getting drug through briars repeatedly. I just put it back together with another plastic zip tie and it was good as new.

I dropped mine the other day and the stake broke off it. I bought the Puppy and it is better made and a lot more versatile.

I haven't tried my puppy yet but it looks good. I put a piece of string in it's loop, and attached a J-hook to the string. I then place the hook on a limb up high...now the puppy kind of turns, flops, and wiggles... it has alot of action...as well as a whimpering puppy wine from inside...
