Following is my email to the club.
I am interested in knowing the possibility, as well and the thoughts of the club to having a separate division for hounds men and callers? I am a member of the club, and would be no matter if I attended the hunt or not, because I do use the rifle range, and attend the 3d archery events. Many of the hunts nationwide that offer payouts have gone to great lengths to cut out any rule breaking. I personally saw two separate groups out hunting for coyotes Thursday night around 7 and 8pm ... before your hunt ever began... these were in areas near my home that the rest of the year I call, and have not came across any other callers. When your hunt started, many of the participants were callers, and they were the basis your hunt started on..... Myself and many others would like to understand your reasons for not adapting to the changing needs of your members.... as the money prizes grow, so will the requests of your members for new and different things. We would like to see a division for callers, and the top prizes split evenly. There are petitions being started, and those who would like to hear answers... With the money your club receives from this hunt, it could grow even more if the playing field were even, Supporting both the hounds men, and callers.
We have also checked into methods to prevent the rules being broken, even including a polygraph test for the winners..... This would prevent many things, such as early hunting, out of state kills, turning in coyotes taken by hunters who are not registered for the hunt, and the method taken, (i.e. calling/hounds) If you divided your hunt into two classes and were to perform 6 separate tests the cost is 1800.00 this would include the machine, operator, and all costs involved including travel and hotel for the operator. this is a large amount of money but pales in comparison to the amount taken in by this hunt. This is LESS than .50 per hunter. We are interested in your comments, and await a response.
