ncstar optics?

are these any good? i am seeing them more and more and they are reported to be good quality optics at great prices. anyone have any of their products?
 
Optics are one of the main things you can buy that give you the quality you pay for... and NCSTAR are a waste of money. A $50 scope is a $50 scope. There are many brands out there at the lower end of the scale that someone will be happy with, but I would never put a hunting trip on the line with cheap optics.
 
My father gave me a remington 700 with one on it and bragged about how good of shooter the gun was. I couldn't get it to shoot for anything. After several months of not using it, I was talking to my dad. He asked how the gun shot with the NC Star scope on it. I told him it wouldn't do what he claimed it would. That is when he told me he took his quality scope of and put the NC Star on it just before he passed it on. I swapped scopes and it is driving tacks as advertised.
 
I finally found someone to not only give mine to, but was willing to take it. Of course he had no clue what it was. I just told him it was not the best scope out there but it was free.

No more North China crap going on any of my guns ever again.
 
Don't waste your money. They're just crap. For very little more money you could get a Bushnell Banner. Granted, not the best scope, but it's a hundred times better than an Ncstar!
 
Stick with your bigger names like Nikon, Burris, Leupold, and Bushnell. All have a good reputation for good optics and you can pick up a Nikon Prostaff or Leupold Rifleman for about $150 +/-. Trust me it's worth the $ to spend a little more on your optics. I replaced several "cheap" scopes within a few years and spent about $250 doing it. I would have saved myself $100 or more if I would have listened and saved a little longer to get a better scope.
 
I ordered an NCStar 3 - 9 scope from Cheaper than Dirt for 69.95. Put it on my Colt AR-15. It works fine. Clear glass. Holds zero. Came back to zero when shooting the square. Not a great scope, but worth the money. Works fine for an inexpensive scope for coyotes. My only complaints: 1) The lens caps that pop up did not last long. 2) The lighted reticle is too bright for night use. Otherwise works fine. I was surprised at the qulity of the lenses and the clarity through the scope.

well, i guess Jim and i are the only ones. i bought a 4x14 tactical at a gun show and mounted it on my savage 204. the lighted recticle is too bright but it does hold true and is very clear. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I've killed three coyotes with mine. Works for me. I know it's not as nice as a more expensive scope but it will do til I come up with the money for a nicer one. Like I said, "It's better than I expected for $69.95."

Hey Froggy

Don't worry about it. Some folks get extremely irate when a utilitarian piece of equipment is used as effectively as their Loopys at 1/10 the cost.

Really gets their tighty whities in a knot. Some day those Loopy guys will get a real scope like a Nightforce or a U.S. Optics.

i do not have or plan to have a ncstar scope, but i can say from first hand this weekend that there was a 8-24 on an armalite ar50 and it was holding up pretty good. the guy claimed he had shot 250+ rounds and never had a problem.
i shot it 3 times and the only reason i missed the bowling pin the 1st 2 shots is because he wasnt sure which hash mark i should have been using so i shot he spotted. on the third shot i nailed the pin like a empty beer can with your old .22! it jumped up and spun about 4 times and landed 10 feet or so from where it had been.

i was very impressed with what i witnessed. he said that scope was just what he had laying around and wanted to shoot the gun. after it held up he didnt figure he needed to spend more money if that was working. he said he had shot 1200 yds with it and did not have any problems. with all that said i agian will state that i am not going to sell off my luepolds, nikon, millet or bushnell 3200's to buy ncstar for all my guns. i do however think that in this case the ncstar that i shot with deserves the credit since it was on a high power rifle and did not fail to perform.

we were shooting 300 meters and i did have to put the scope on 16x to get a good view. when cranked up to 32x it is really fuzzy around the edges.
