Yeah, I had to drop the hammer twice in order for the round to go off. I had that gun less than 7 days.

There are a bunch of "Rem 700 clones". Here are a few:

Lawton 7000
Borden Alpine and Timberline
GAP
Surgeon
Stiller Predator
Pierce Engineering
Nighthawk Custom
Haverkamp Precision

I could go on. These are just the ones I can think of offhand.

Someone please supply me with a list of all the custom Savage clones. Maybe I am just in the dark on this subject and didn't know it. If the Savage action is sooo great, I'm sure there must be many clones out there. I'm waiting.........

2 Much.

I cant think of any off hand. I will check around and get back to you, in the mean time dont hold your breath. LOL

No? Please let me know what bolt action rifle has out-sold the Remington 700 since it's inception(that means the year it came out).

Any come to mind? I'm waiting.......

Nice lookin' rig.

I just feel 700s represent an excellent rifle value when ALL things are considered. I have had very little troubles with the bunch of them that I own/have owned, and all shoot extremely well.

What's more, mine is an educated opinion. I have owned plenty of other brands, and not just one of each. Sometimes, I wonder about the validity of certain members' opinions. The keyboard seems to add vast amounts of rifle experience to some people's resumes.........

any suggestions? thanks for the help

oh yea i dont have the equipment to reload incase anyone wants to know forum- i have killed over 250 coyotes i have seen that many killed with all kind of calibers. BULLET PLACEMENT IS most important. that said i fail to understand the "fur friendly " stuff. you can't skin the ones that you wound and get away. there is another web site where the .17 centerfires are the vahalla. my experience tells me the .17 centerfires are on the light side for coyotes. for coyotes even with the .222,223 and 222 remmag you are going to loose some that you would have had with a .243. for a round that is fur friendly for both foxes and coyote i would say 4 buck and a 12 or 20 gauge. if you choose a 223 centerfire you have WHOLE LOT of bullet weights and various configurations to choose from even in factory ammo.

...and not a single person said at 20 yards the 17 would have worked perfect if the shot was placed behind the shoulder.

Nor did anyone say anything about bullet selection being way more important than caliber. If one aways shoots them in the head FMJ would be perfect.

If a gun needs to be bought I'd go with the 223 and select the proper ammo. Buy whichever brand you like best.

Don't shoot big bones with little bullets going fast.

2 much,

I never claimed to be an expert. I have been shooting for about 28 years, my father who was a Marine sniper back in the 50's taught me how to shoot, we used to shoot empty 22 lr casings off weeds. Anyways, I agree with you about the rem 700, like I said I own one and have owned several over the years. All this rem 700 talk has got me itching to go shoot mine. LOL

Why dont we just create the post and see what happens? Especially since you think Remington will be at the top of the list. Just because Ford has sold more vehicles than any other car company, doesnt make them the best vehicle on the road today. People are a creature of habit and fear change. people hold onto a name far to long because its familiar, long after other products do the same thing but better. Obviously we can go back and forth all day and neither one of us will ever be convinced of the others person stance.

You're jumping to conclusions....

I don't think 2MG is saying that at all. If you'll look back on page 2 of this thread, he mentioned that here on PM that "budget rifle mania" was a part of rifle selection.

I would have to agree with him. This forum is not a true picture of actual rifle sales over the years. On a broader scale than just this forum, Remington sales figures are far out in front....

With all due respect..... If you're talking a factory hunting rifle, here a Stevens 200 with 2 coats of Krylon qualifies as a custom rifle for some folks, and it might be the forum choice if everyone was polled..

That's twice you've agreed with me in the same thread. Stoppit or people will start talking.........

You seem to understand exactly what I'm trying to say, Hal.........

The part that you do not understand, is just what Hal said. In the big picture, Remington 700s have, and still do, outsell the brands you mentioned. They are still the most popular choice among hunters, law enforcement, and military, like it or not. They are also still the favorite factory action upon which to build a custom target/varmint rifle upon, and the choice of top gunsmiths who specialize in such builds. The 700 is also HIGHLY copied and MANY clones/customs based on it exist.

I'm about done here. If you want to fantasize that hunters, target shooters, top gunsmiths, law enforcement, and military ALL choose Remington because they simply don't know any better, go right ahead. I'll stick to reality........

It's getting scary, huh..??

LOL.. IMO, what warpig is doing with his poll here is kin to asking Jefferson Davis' Confederate Congress to give Abraham Lincoln a vote of confidence as President....

Now it looks like Mark2 is doing his special version of the same poll. Gee, I wonder what the answer will be here in this little internet micro-view of the real world..?

Guys,
I simply feel that all the members here can offer some insight into this topic. There are allot of guys who own, shoot, more guns than myself. There are allot of guys Im sure who are far more experienced than I am. I just thought it would be a neat experiment to see what the majority of people here feel about this topic. I have allot of faith in the quality of opinions from the members on this site, I trust their collective opinion, I hope you do also. I understand your whole total sales argument. But if this doesn't reflect real world experiences than what
doe's???
