New England Hunt '06?

Looks as though I may be in a bit of a jam as well for getting gun there? There is a message to "aliens" on the website, apparently I need to jump through ATF hoops which may take 6-8 weeks? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gifDammit,I called Canada customs awhile back and they never mentioned that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gifGotta call ATF tommorow and see if I can get the fast-trac? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I have heard (but have no personal experience) that bringing a rifle back into the US is a royal pain. Canadian customs doesn't seem to mind US bringing guns to Canada for hunting, but there is paperwork that needs to be filled out 1st to ensure that we can get our guns back into the US. I would imagine that this is the same paperwork you would need to bring a gun into the US for the hunt.

it might be easier to see if you could borrow a gun from someone else in the hunt to use.

I just went up to the Maine IFW site, and found this link for "aliens" bringing gunsinto the US
http://www.maine.gov/ifw/licreg/alienatfpermit.htm
apparently the ATF has a new form to "import" a gun into the US for hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

here's the quote from this web site.

"nonimmigrant aliens who want to temporarily import firearms or ammunition for hunting or other lawful sporting purposes should use this new form

The new ATF form 6NIA can be downloaded from the ATF webpage at www.atf.gov or ordered from the ATF Distribution Center 703-455-7801."

Hi Guys
Just came back from the camps and from finalizing things. While I was up there and in the restaurant that the banquet is being held in I was advised that some local coyote hunters found out about the hunt and definitely want in. A definite plus having more local hunters joining in. I advised them to log onto the site and join us here so if any of you are out there sound off. Only about 3 inches of snow so far but 8 inches predicted for today. One piece of equipment that would be very adventagious would be the Maine Atlas and Gazetteer sold by Delorme maps. $20.00 but totally worth it. It is a road map plus topo maps and I would not leave my house without it. I have one for each of my vehicles. I will be up there all week before the hunt to make sure everything is done before any one gets there so if any of you want to come up early to do some scouting or what ever feel free to join me. More as I get it.

Thanx guys.I don't know what to say.Great bunch on here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gifIt's my own stupid fault, being such a slacker.Like I said,I had called Canada Customs a few weeks ago.I was more concerned with getting my own gun back home.I guess I assumed with your more relaxed attitude towards guns down there, going over would be no problem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gifCalled ATF,no way to get it done in time they said. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I am determined to come anyway at this point.Thought maybe I'd just help keep the stove stoked, maybe tag along and run the lite for someone?Money I would save on licence could be put to good use on extra beer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PA. I am also counting the days. I believe I have evrything going right on schedule. I will be up at the camps again next week to make sure everything is just so. We have little snow up here right now which could be a good thing for little snow will open up a lot more hunting acess. But this is Maine and it could change and we could get three feet by the time of the hunt. Well just checking in and I will see you guys when you get here.

Ok Guys here it is. 20 days to go. I think I have everything pretty much covered. Thursday evening will be registration and I am planning a bonfire for then so every one can get to know each other. I am sure there are some that will get there in time to hunt on Thursday night but I will keep the fire going for any one coming in late. If any one has any questions or need directions please pm me.

Hi all
I was wondering if there is any room for a new comer in this? I've ben trying to learn but haven't had time to try hunting them.
Thanx

PM me and I will give you all of the particulars. There is always room for more and it is going to be a great time. I can also give you the numbers for the motel where the banquet is going to be held I know they still have rooms available.

I think every one that’s going to be staying at Rodney’s place should get to gather and see who is bringing what.

As in food
Condiments
Beer
Drinks
Dancers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
